1889 Wrong attribution?

Hi guys and gals. I received this 1889 Morgan back from Anacs. They attributed the coin as a VAM 1. In my opinion (which is not saying a lot) it does not seem to match up. In the photos it shows the date which is slanted. 0 higher than 1, line in neck, clashing at mouth (with polish lines in nostril, line to n on reverse, polish lines in gap of eagles neck, and polish lines beneath cap on right side. The photos are the best I can do with my equipment. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am very interested in becoming a better VAM fan. I currently have about 100 in stock.

From what I can see, there's no clash that would warrant being listed as anything. The date is on the left side of the normal lateral position, but still normal. Any slant in the date is too slight to have been listed. The date also shows no signs of repunching. So far, this is VAM 1.

If possible, please post the pictures you are capturing on your computer, and not photos of your computer. Photos of screens are never pleasant to look at when looking for details.

Die polishing lines are useful as markers to confirm a match to a known die, but that's it.

Love it when I see what the experts see. One spot on one that illustrates how subtle variations do not make a different variety than normal schtuff within tolerance.

I'd echo the plea to stop taking pictures of computer screens. You have a comptuer, you're posting online - why can't you post pictures on line!? Can you try in this post or at least address why you can't so we might help (our eyes will thank you and you'll likely thank us in the end).

Thanks for your help. The problems with my photos are 1. I have a dinolite setup, but it's old and won't update and store anymore photos. 2. I can take photos with it but then have to take a photo of that with my cell phone then post. My cellphone won't take close ups that will show the details of the Vam. If anybody has a solution to this please let me know. Appreciate it. I also applaud the Vam experts. It is very hard to understand all the ins and outs of the trade. I spend hours and hours and end up being wrong 90% of the time.

Frustrating sounding, for sure, and a reminder we are really enslaved to technology. And when the IT gods and goddesses want to make our life hell... they do!

Love my Dinolite and still use it frequently even though I have a slick Bluetooth/wireless one now that talks with my computer without the need for cables... Still takes nice pictures and didn't cost much more than an average BU Morgan.

Encouraging you to keep up the fun and learning. Those, and this community, are great therapy. Not necessarily inexpensive... but less of a hangover in the morning.
