While looking through my Morgan's I saw my 1882 S PCGSMS65 OGH VAM 17A,
with the die chip on the left wreath and an S over S mint mark.
I think the die chip is large enough to maybe qualify for a LDS.
Also a die chip on the wing below T in TRUST.
Enjoy, Bert

Thats a great looking Morgan!
Re: 1882 S VAM 17A 'DIE CHIP LEFT WREATH'
@bhinkle, nice coin and prompted me to look at mine. Similar chip but you've definitely got something else going on with the MM. Mine shows the expected S/S in regular fashion, but yours looks like someone got angry
with it. Or there was a wild planchet flaw (doubtful) or something else. Would love to hear from the experts if this is just a TCITC (the coin is the coin) or something else.

Keilg1 I should know your name, but I couldn't find it on all of the ID's and names,
that I saved over the years.
Anyways, I also noticed the differences , when I was taking pictures of the S mint mark.
Here are four pictures, all taken at four 'different angles'.
On some of the pictures, at different angles, it looks like it took a 45 degree turn.
I hope maybe someone here can explain what we are looking at, because, like you
said, it doesn't look like the picture on the vam 17A page.
Thanks, Bert
PS Keilg1 PLEASE maybe post a picture of yours.

Re: 1882 S VAM 17A 'DIE CHIP LEFT WREATH'
Will try and grab the coin later when I can, Bert, but I'm away this weekend. Interesting things going on around your MM for sure but I can't tell what...
As for the name, most of you might recognize me from the 2010-13 time frame when I had a different life... and, yes, different name. Explanation for those interested can be found in the linked story but I'll not share it here.
