@ fogie 1904-s vam 9 or maybe vam 5 , not really sure yet questions

I need to start this post slow by first asking @fogie for permission to post his 1904-s discovery coin photo's on here for a side by side comparison....... first question to anyone , What would you call this mint mark possession? high , normal , high tilted left ??????or something else?

My unprofessional vote: High (for sure if not very high if that variant exists) and normal (no tilt)

Top of S is above bow lobes, vote for High position and centered

Well high and centered would be VAM 5 I guess, Its just a little bit hard with circulated wear to nail some of this down .There was no mention of polish lines on the reverse so it must be a die state thing i guess ????

I’m not sure , but I’m leaning towards VAM-5.
Something that makes it hard for me is that I think the LFCPs on the VAM-9 page might really be VAM-5. Also, why is the same LFCP on the VAM-9 page shown two times?

Thank you ! yes the LFCP's were messing with me a little. I was more interested in fogie's discovery coin for reference.... coin on left side is fogie's Vam 9 Coin on right is mine ...... you have to look past the grade on the label cause one of these coins it looks like our graders had a two martini lunch i guess

Every time a coin is posted is an opportunity for all of us to improve the VW site/pages. Thank you for the post.
The closer that I look at the LFCPs on the VAM-5 and 9 pages the more I think that they are both VAM-5 (or at least the same reverse). Look at the die lines to the right of the bow. I still don't understand why the same coin was loaded twice as LFCPs on the VAM-9 page.
Maybe someone that works on the pages could join in.

If I need to take fogie's picture down please let me know . I wanna say when I went to bed I had convince myself the reverse of my poor ole specimen is shared with the V9 reverse , However the obverse date and denticle thing had made me think the obverse was V5 . I don't know if that is the case this morning I will keep looking .The polish lines in the field although probably not list-able caught my non numismatic eye

I think my reverse full picture is a degree and a half out of level . Its hard to straighten the pictures perfect on a cell phone . I wanna thank you all for your comments And its probably a 5 but I think you are right about those pictures on V/W site . Probably just a v5 and nothing more but thanks for looking

I'm not sure that any of those mm match the VAM-5 in the Big Book.
I will let the experts tell me what's what.

But it would be good to confirm if the photos on the VAM-5 and 9 pages are correct or make the needed corrections.

Agreed . I think my confusion and uncertainty may in part be what you have pointed out .
I will table this discussion until we get some better trained eyes , to weigh in . Thank you !!!!
