Maybe it's time to forget about what you think you see and look thru the listings for marriages with the mintmark tilted strongly to the left. There's only a couple of options. Imagination can help you once you understand the basics within this field, but honestly right now you are doing yourself a disservice. Maybe someone else can chime in here and tell you my opinions carry a fair amount of weight. VAM World is a small world.
Who are you again?

I go totally NUTS for WOW! VAMs!! Or is that from WOW! VAMs?

It is quite possible also that the mint polished off any evidence of the clash from the field to keep from having to rebuild a die. And the L inside the B is in the high point of the B. And I believe that I have evidence of the mint doing just that on another Morgan.
For the dies to have clashed that far to transfer those letters, I’d imagine you’d see significant clashing all over the coin. Then, for the dies to have these clashed areas polished away, you’d see evidence of beveled fields or polishing lines more than likely.
I’ve attached an 1881-O VAM-40 that shows obverse beveled fields from polishing to remove the clashing, as an example.
Thank you.

Probably just a hit. I'd suggest taking a look at the VAM 20 listing. Is there a die line at the top of the throat just under the chin?

Good call! Yes it does. Although there are some differences and similarities on the other pick up points, like the ear is different...

And the mint mark. Same shape. Same left lean. Same bar. Not made with an S punch.

For whatever reason (fill in the blank) the mint appears to have used a 5 to form the serifs...

This picture is supposed to load upside down. As it is it looks like a severe PMD. Rotate the image 180 degrees and it turns into a near perfect 5.

And they used a small c to round off the square tops of the fives.

5 times I have tried to post this picture and 5 times it shows up here upside down. The coin is supposed to be upside down in the picture, not right side up. Then the 5 over c stands out.

I highly doubt the mint possessed a tiny "5" and a "u" shaped die stamps; then stamped them into the working die to create that S mintmark.

Education is a process... sometimes straightforward, sometimes circuituous, convoluted and chaotic...
As long as we keep open and kind, it can happen - for all us as we were all once 'less educated'.
Keep up the hunt remembering that the human brain is simultaneously our best asset... and worst!
