CAC stickered coins

Post by iceman » Wed Aug 10, 2022 11:09 am

Hi All
I have a CAC stickered PCGS MS63 coin comming in , Its the green lable CAC sticker .
From all of your experience what are the odds to send it back in to PCGS for a MS63+ upgrade . I know if its a Regrade you lose the CAC because you lose the Cert Number on the coin . Now a wanted to send this in to Get attributed anyways . If I reholder I keep the
cert number and add the attribute and the CAC is still with the Cert Number .

Just wanted to hear from the experience of the Crew here on the Odds of a Up Grade to a + on a Green CAC sticker . Just wanted some Input from the Crew .

Thanks
John

I send a good number of coins to PCGS but I'm not trying to update grades. PCGS claims the reconsideration level service allow you to keep the original certification number even if you add the attribution and the coin doesn't upgrade.
Will anything change on my label if I receive an upgrade?
Other than the grade itself, anything on the original label will stay the same, including pedigree, descriptions and certification numbers.

Hi Darkside
The recondersation will add the attribute if it goes up in grade . If the same grade they leave it alone with No Attribute . I tried that on another coin and it didnt work , So I sent it back for a regrade and attribution ( That coin wasnt a CAC coin ) . I guess thats the policy . Yep it I called them on it and they said thats the way it is . LOL . So I thought about it and I will
send this CAC coin for a Regrade and attribution . It just takes so much time to do stuff at PCGS . LOL . If you add up all the costs it maked sense now to do a Re-Grade . They might be biased on a reconsideration of a coin or dont grade and look at it as well . Just my thoughts . Im shooting for a MS63+ but I am happy with the 63 . Here is a Photo of the coin .

I wouldnt spend money or time, and if i did i would put on submission
form = minimum grade as desired= 63+ 64 etc

Your coin looks better than 63 & appears to have some mirror effect
I break em out and send raw-if it looks like good chance upgrade or
mirrors- you get at least a fair shake withot prejudice

Never send PCGS coins in other holders if you epect any decent results
Waste of your money & time for sure

PCGS does not accept regrade submissions that have a minimum acceptable grade higher than the current grade.

In-holder regrades do sometimes work, but they are an expensive gamble:
– postage to get the coin(s) there
– $10 handling fee per order
– minimum $23 per coin grading fee
– minimum $22 per order return postage
When in doubt... don't.
