Hi all!
I recently stumbled on this 1st die pair Morgan and need advisement as to whether call it a 9A & move on or send it to JR or JB so they can look at it. It's an XF coin now that appears to have been SPL when minted. There is PMD to the signature "comma" feather but it has all the markers.
My questions center around the two reverse wing die clash marks. There is no mention of a double clashing in the listing. However there is some strike doubling on the reverse (Look at the "In" above it). Q: Could the strike doubling have dragged the clash mark in such a way making it appear a double clash?
Also this die pair appears a bit more polished in places than the others I've seen.
So... call it a 9A and move on or send it in for a look by the professionals?
Thanking all in advance!
Sincerely,
-Mel

Too minor to warrant a new vam listing die stage (but Jb,JR have the final word on it upon reviewing this vam/coin)
Adding this additional info to the listing page
Should be sufficient
It is no doubt a vam 9

Thank you for that Vam-mysterio! Thats what I suspected.
I also forgot to mention that the fine die cracking around the outside of the reverse is nearly complete on this specimen.
It's not so much so on the other 9A I am holding right now, nor is it as complete in the listing photos I think... but it's hard to tell.

I don't see anything that would make me think to list another stage. 9A has a weak clash, 9 doesn't have a clash. Your looks like it might have a second, weaker clash, but it's not listable.

I appreciate your taking a look messydesk. Maybe somebody should put a notation or mention in the listing of known examples with a weak second clash??? I still consider myself new to this and not privy to do such things.
The "comma" or "kidney bean" shaped engraved feather has taken a direct hit on this one completely distorting its shape. It almost looks pointed. The identification is made in the polishing lines of the cotton bolls and cap ribbon, along with the die chips of the eye and ear.
Thanks to all!!
