An intersection of interests
This showed up today. It's a 5 inch bronze uniface medallion that was on the front panel of a teller window at the old Dollar Savings Bank in downtown Columbus

Thats pretty cool - even from a Morgan guy!
Re: An intersection of interests
Ah they were thinking of the Peace Dollar back in 1907 . MAYBE . Now that is a nice find

Psychic Bank of Ohio. But really, the bank was founded in 1907 and I think the building this came from was built back in the mid 1920's. The bank is long gone but the building is still there. Think the upper floors have been converted to condos.

Thank you for the correction.
It can be so weird how things are interconnected...

Cool piece of history. I wonder if the smooth brass features have to do with exposure to abrasion or if it was polished that way after being cast.
I wonder if the safes/vaults are still in place. The Mining Exchange hotel in Colorado Springs used to be a bank and still has vault doors on the housekeeping supply closets on every floor, with a nice, big brass vault door on the lobby level. No stealing extra little soaps from that place.
Welcome to the VAMWorld 2.0 discussion boards. R.I.P. old VAMWorld.

There's a hotel right by the Baltimore Convention Center that has the basement vault from its former bank set up as a conference room

Love the old Dollar and building on 4th Ave in Downtown Pittsburgh. There is a PNC Bank branch in West Newton, PA (about an hour from Pittsburgh) with a 1902 Morgan on its edifice. Here's a thread I started on that bank.

I swear, someday I will learn how to grade Peace Dollars!

The rim is high enough to have protected the IN COD WE TRVST motto and the tops of LIBERTY.. The surface on the lettering had to be deliberate.messydesk wrote: ↑Fri Jan 14, 2022 9:06 pmCool piece of history.
