1880-P VAM-1E/VAM-25 Digit in denticles?

Post by Steve1809 » Fri Dec 03, 2021 6:23 am

Has anyone noticed a possible digit in denticles on the 1880 VAM-25 (Prev. VAM-1E)? (Chip on Chin) It seems that there are remnants of the 8 digit embedded within the denticles, but I cannot find any reference to it. This is definitely the VAM-25 as it has all the markers, and the example shown for this VAM on the VAMWORLD site also seems to have similar evidence. I have attached photos of my coin... Thanks!

First step would be to remove the dirt from between the denticles. I've never noticed the possibility of a MPD on those I've seen.
