To help those who are don’t or can’t do their own research, There are only now 3 1921-S vam 1B3A known in BU.
It was discovered by John B in 2008. So after all the searching by who’s who in all
Of the coin shows, This is 3rd one to surface. Good luck finding the next one.
I’ll never forget the first BU one found in an auction snafu, and the hoops he had to go through to get it.

Think he'll take it? But seriously, never heard of a "VAM value guide". I use the PCGS price guide for a wag value and it lists the 1B3. If you want to pay that type of premium for a change in polishing lines, knock yourself out. I'd never do it. I'm still at $195. Good luck.

So what we have here is just failure to attribute by PCGS, or just no sales data on their end ????
I'm good with the VAM value price guide if it is correct just confused By PCGS sometimes , and honestly I have not went looking in coin facts for auction prices so it may be there. This is just an interesting for sale item , be more fun to pick than pay for kind of variety .

It must not be attributed correctly on the holder, or PCGS verification is misleading

NOAH in the OPs post means not attributed on holder. The guide price shown by PCCGS is only for a regular 1921-s in MS63.UNCLE BINGO wrote: ↑Thu Mar 16, 2023 4:26 pmIt must not be attributed correctly on the holder, or PCGS verification is misleadingScreenshot 2023-03-16 102337.jpg
Only 3 in BU in 15+ years means this is a very rare coin.

Ya I understand that I was just trying to help Marky b know the why of this one

Re: 1921-s vam 1B3A PCGS 63 Thorn Head
Oh, I've known the why since I was told of a value guide. A value guide behind a pay wall. That's fine but what happens when those same people kill VAM 1B3A or any other VAM? What's its value now? Now you're thinking...well, that would never happen. Think again. There seems to be a lot of joy in killing VAMs due to past mistakes and I've had a few killed or put into a "dubious" state. I like solid investments. PCGS puts an approx. $50 premium on the 1B3 VAM which appears even rarer. That's good enough for me.UNCLE BINGO wrote: ↑Thu Mar 16, 2023 6:04 pmYa I understand that I was just trying to help Marky b know the why of this one

Oh heck , I figured the 22 bucks was tons cheaper than Greysheets . Even a basic, no free vouchers, membership cost twice that Much somewhere I here ..... And the shirts are way cool !As far as the rest of your post I can't really say one way or the other . Only thing I am interested in is some kind of base line based off a very volatile Market ... Every coin ever struck is worth exactly what someone else will pay you for it , if you sell.

If you like solid investments buy bullion and common graded dollars, not VAMs.MarkyB wrote: ↑Thu Mar 16, 2023 10:12 pmOh, I've known the why since I was told of a value guide. If the original poster of this thread says its a V1B3A, THEN rest assured it is a V1B3A

Having done this for over 20 years, I often find it amusing when VAM values come up. If you get into this hobby to make money, you will be sorely disappointed. As an example, name one person who SOLELY makes their income off of VAMs. Think hard before you answer.

You can't even say JR because I attribute a bunch of other stuff
