Longstrider/Hi John; Options on commodities = Calls are betting mkt to go up-
Puts are betting mkt to go down
just the lingo of trading options
regular futures are either Bought (long) or Sold (short)
which is the trades lingo for futures trading
these various futures & options contracts were developed by NYMEX (NEW YORK)
& CBOT (chicago board of trade) in order to differenciate between Buying (going long)
and Selling (going short) using the above Lingo for Futures & futures options trading
once one gets used to terminology it becomes quite simple to understand but quite
confusing to newbies at first.
Hope this helps answer the Lingo question

I admire that he posted his loss. Goes against most all here say about Scott.
Re: I'M A BUYER LOOKING FOR UPTICK IN METALS MKTS
IF any trader of stocks or commodities does not admit to losses, on occasion
then someone is shirking reality, as roughly 50% of trades placed are in the wrong
market direction. One may have a short period win of higher percentages, but over
time only 1/2 or so of trades placed are profitable.
Thus said, in order to live through capital draw downs/losses a astuit trader relies
on risk management vehicles, such as STOPS, to protect acct equity.
Sounding like a broken record on STOPS, but survival is key, if sucess is to be had.
Good luck pickin super vams at bargain prices !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kind of rare though. Thanks.
Re: I'M A BUYER LOOKING FOR UPTICK IN METALS MKTS
I'd say your uptick arrived. I'm more of a stacker than a market speculator, so an increase in metal prices leaves me with mixed feelings. On one hand an increase in price makes it harder to stack, but it does reinforce my belief that the market needs a correction.
