E bay sellers still trying to get old prices withot much luck,
most likely because they paid the high prices of yesteryear

We all know prices have fallen but WOW this type of slam
really has hurt this sport, yet another reason so many good
collectors bailed out over last 5-7 yrs.

I don't think that a discussion of silver prices is unconnected to the price of silver dollars and the price of silver dollars affects the value of VAMs. Further, if something affects the prices of VAMs, it is worthy of discussion.
Though I have no claim to expertise, I would be remiss if I did not share my observations and conclusions. And what I observe is an economy in free fall. If you want to see how it works, pick up a history book.
Traditionally, all collectibles will be sold for dirt cheap prices, except for the rarest and most valuable which will be looted by those with the greatest resources.
For thousands of years, wealth has been defined by meltable gold and silver... why should today be different?
I'll purchase a VAM now and then at a slight premium, but for the most part, I keep stacking.
Having trained as a silversmith when Bunkie Hunt drove up the price, I have an idea where silver prices can go. And adjusted for inflation, silver is severely under priced.
Answer this... How can an Ike Dollar be purchased at the bank for $1., but a silver eagle costs $15 over spot price? The only answer is price fixing.
I'll spare you the who, how and why if you admit it is a given fact.
I'm selling off other assets and buying silver bullion.

Kurt 28; Thanks much for your response, as it makes me feel not alone in my thinking.
It also reminds me to avoid putting money into anything with huge PREMIUMS
right now, due to state of economy etc. Just look at real estate premiums (A huge deal)
overblown to upside due to past unreal int rates and population boom.
Real estate has history of price overswings in either direction, like 50% downturns in
2008 to present crazy high over values.

Now we are forced by sure need to pay absorbent prices for goods/services of
which are unsustainable when interest rates go ballistic & our real estate prices
plummet, resulting in much less available cash out for refinance /consumers not
having discretionary income to spend on over valued anything.

So real estate took a 50% hit in past, so did our beloved Morgan Vams, with the
RE coming back strong & vams still tanked, as lack of discretionary income and
sheer numbers affected values dramatically. The silver manipulation has just added
fuel to the already struggling silver saga. Lets hope the CFTC admitting to silver mkts
price manipulation creates some uproar and Fed lawsuits which could lead to
general price increases, if the crooks involved are stopped.

Wierd times now, all things considered, and one fears yet the tip of a very cold
Iceburg to follow. Just my little IMHO- Well now i need a Drink after all that. LOL

As far as VAM prices go, has anyone ever considered the prices from several years ago were too high and they have settled to where they should be?
