1878s VAM-62
PCGS certified dozens of these VAM-62's and only 13 are locked up in sets. ANACS and PCGS also no doubt certified many more. These coins do not come up for auction too frequently, seems like fewer than one per year. Feel free to send me a personal message telling me about your 1878s VAM-62.

Re: 1878s VAM-62
Wow!!! So VAM-62's come up every 250 days or so, I think they are coming up more often then the 59's. perhaps. I've got trade items (details San Francisco Long Nocks), or cash, if anybody out there wants to rid him or her self of their 1878s VAM-62's, there are dozens out there that are not locked up in sets. And maybe some of the VAM-62's that are in sets are for sale. With the Chinese Virus and all, maybe some people who are holding on to a VAM-62 (or a VAM-58 or a VAM-59), may just decide to sell. There are advantages of selling the coins to me, as I have a reserve in Saskatchewan where Americans can come and hide out in the bush. Might just save your life. We'll see.
Re: 1878s VAM-62
Mine is a PCGS-30; bought a few years ago when nobody seemed to be interested in long nocks. I think it’s one of better acquisitions when you consider price paid.
Re: 1878s VAM-62
...and I think it is the one shown in the listing above in 2016 as mine is in PCGS plastic.

Re: 1878s VAM-62
I think that PCGS G4 sold this year for $285 is likely mine, blush, that is a record amount for a 1878s VAM-62 in G4 (a little over $400 Canadian delivered with exchange, shipping and taxes). This one makes five VAM-62's in my collection, it is a difficult coin to collect as it took several years to acquire the five coins. Are there any die states and die stages to be aware of and look for in the 1878s VAM-62?

Re: 1878s VAM-62
A VAM-62 in VF35 you say, must be worth at least $600 now. I'd give you $650.

The Two AU’s & the 6 known Xf’s are all locked up in sets
So if you have one of the 3 35’s best hold on to it!

Re: 1878s VAM-62
As many of you know
The vam 62 long nock is very under appreciated
In any grade
Although still findable in ag to fine with ,a little
Patience you can still probably cherry-pick one
In the wild, now,VF or better are just not out there,
Even buying one in a strong vf grade and paying strong $ for it, is got to be the cost of celebration big time! With champagne if you want or you can just jump up and down all day,
Forget about buying any xf or better
(If one comes into the market,it will bring strong $)
And I’m not talking 1000 dollars
Again vam 62 is very underrated

Re: 1878s VAM-62
There are only about 20 people in the entire world who want one of these coins. Over time we will die off and our heirs will sell the coins for silver value. Buyers will complain that the mint mark isn't centered.
Re: 1878s VAM-62
Pissin in the pond you want to swim in is always a terrible idea
often the crusher of hopes and dreams
Re: 1878s VAM-62
I bought a xf 45 off Juan several years back.
Was not cheap but when will you get a chance to buy another xf 45?
To me when you see a rare vam better buy it because you may never get a chance again.
I have several rare vans that probably paid to much for, but have filled several pcgs sets.

Re: 1878s VAM-62
I have a PCGS XF40. I would dread trying to replace it. There are 2 coins in my L.N. set that I hold out a trace of hope of one day upgrading. VAM 62 is not one of them.
The price I paid probably felt painful at the time, but it has long since passed, and if I ever get a chance to buy another at the same price I will do so immediately.
I think there are far more than 20 people in the entire world who want one.

And yes, the V62 is way underrated IMO. Good luck to all wishing to find one!

Re: 1878s VAM-62
My five are G04 (PCGS), G06 (ANACS), VG8 (ANACS), VG10 (PCGS) and VF30 (PCGS), the latter being somewhat pricey. I am trying to get 10% of the population and then will hand them all over to Jesus when He returns, might get my money back.

Re: 1878s VAM-62
A raw Gene L. Henry Vam-62 arrived in the mail today, I'm pleased. Perhaps it will end up with a "details" grade, likely that is why it remained for sale for such a long time.
