Reporting a listing to eBay by speaking to eBay Customer Support or using the "Report this Item" link will usually NOT result in the item being removed. eBay Customer Support does not have the expertise to determine if a coin has been altered, misattributed, or is not genuine. I do.
If they're not qualified, then why are they there?
I understand that they would have to be qualified such as yourself to make such a determination but I would think that EBAY could afford such a person. Maybe they already do?
And not only in this category, but in others as well.
Just like they do in sneakers for example.

We've differed in the past on this Dave but I've appreciated you for it.

I'm done though from now on.

eBay has thousands of of categories with billions of item listings. Every day, there are over 2 billion transactions on eBay. There are 2 million, if not more, active listings in the Coins category every day.

eBay Customer Support is there to help eBay users with site issues, questions on how to use the system, account and billing questions, dealing with trust and safety issues (for example, harassment by other eBay members), etc. eBay Customer Support is NOT there to determine if an 1887 Morgan listed as a VAM-9 is or is not a VAM-9, if a 1798 Large Cent is a genuine coin, electrotype, an altered coin, or a fake, or if a chair listed as being made in the 18th century was actually made in the is 20th century, 19th century or 18th century.

It is not possible to manually police 5 - 10 billion listings each and every day. eBay would have to hire 50+ million people. That would be every living person in Great Britain and Australia.

Having enough Customer Support people to evaluate every type of listing in every category is not physically, financially, or logistically possible.

Again, I understand that not every item can nor should be examined or scrutinized.
No one expects for each item to be put thru the ringer.
But when an item gets reported using "The actual scroll down tools that are given by EBAY", and then it can't be acted upon? Then why offer them? Just leave them out since there's no one that can do anything about it.

5-10 Billion listings and making money off of each and every listing, I find it very hard to believe it's not possible to do so. If they can figure out how to charge and collect each and every one of those billions of listings, then not being possible to hire and pay people to check for items that "are reported" is not an easy pill to swallow.

Regardless, I don't really care about it anymore.

Many items that have been reported here over the years were genuine coins that did not violate an eBay listing policy. You cannot just go out and hire anyone off the street and expect him/her to know how to determine the difference between a genuine coin, an altered coin, an electrotype, a contemporary counterfeit that is collectible and allowed on eBay, a modern counterfeit, a genuine error, a fake error made outside the Mint, or a misattributed coin with a Cohen, Newcomb, Snow, Logan McCloskey, Valentine, JR, Fortin, Browning, Briggs, Overton, Tompkins, Wiley Bugert, Bolender, Bowers Borckardt, VAM, Haynpr, Bass Dannreuther, Breen Gillio, Breen, Fivaz Stanton, and any other variety designation number that I missed. Expecting eBay to hire such a person or a country full of people with these types of credentials and years experience in the various industries to police every item in every category is 1,000,000,000,000,000,000% unrealistic.

Feel free to respond. I won't. I am done responding regarding this subject that is completely out of our control. We do not work for eBay, nor do we control eBay's employee hiring plan and listing policies.

I have always reported to Ebay those counterfeit coin I found before posting it here. When two or three others reported the same coin, the report becomes more credible, and ebay will take it down. Yes, it will not put even a minuscule dent to the counterfeit market. But my contribution or good deed is for free and coin is my hobby, therefore this act does not burden me a single bit. If anyone else want to report it to ebay as well, great. If not, oh well so be it. The world will still be turning regardless.

Reported a similar listing to this one to Ebay - multiple coins all in same numbered holder. Other listings using picture of same coin. Multiple listings from different sellers in widespread locations as well. https://www.ebay.com/itm/404531649632?h ... R-LslrrfYg

Seems my favorite date / mm has become a big hit with the counterfeiters. Multiple listings by many different sellers on E-bay, all showing the same coin, most in MS 68 holders (or now covering over the details on the holder). Bad part is the feedback from a sale showing "beautiful coin" I guess we can't stop them all..... https://www.ebay.com/sch/11116/i.html?i ... sn=ray0804

The pictures, item specifics, and price for the 1878 VAM-70 do not violate eBay policy. What does violate eBay policy are the title and description. The 1878 is not a VAM-70. The listing is on its way down.

Looks counterfeit to these eyes, and the listing is misrepresenting also.....https://www.ebay.com/itm/134795844600
