1900 O/CC VAM 8A ?

Post by uscoinology » Sat Aug 31, 2019 4:50 am

Mint mark . VAM 8A pitted. But location of the overdate is different. Any positive thoughts would be appreciated.

Doesn't look like a CC to me. Have you checked any of the other marks like clashes and such? Good luck..🐍

It is , but the None of the VAM 8 series has the type of displaced mint mark seen on the reverse with pitting. I will post some full obverse and reverse pics later . Thanks

It definitely looks like a VAM 8A. Could it possibly be pmd (possibly from a contact slide from another dollar?) or possibly struck thru scrap that's still stuck to the dollar?

Yup. At a glance something just looked off for some reason then a split second later it was an "oh, the mm took a hit on the right side and pushed some metal over making the O look kinda wobbly" moment.

For a simple O mint mark metal slide push hit example this one is neat simply because it makes an already chaotic mint mark even a bit more, well, chaotic. Dig it..
