Something fishy here?

Post by DHalladay » Tue Apr 09, 2019 9:05 pm

Take a look at eBay auction #223476817518 for a PCGS-63 1883-S Morgan.
I don't like how the coin or the lettering on the insert label look, but maybe it's just poor photos.

Here's a screenshot of what came up at PCGS when I did a serial number verification:

The 3 eBay sales look fishy too; all are by the same seller, in rapid succession, and all for declining prices. But at least the coin looked nice and very real.

Comments anyone?
When in doubt... don't.

Something is off with that label. The auction is gone from eBay but if you go to the PCGS page you can pull up the old auctions. Guy must have an assembly line. Thanks..

IMHO; The coin pictured is counterfeit. The holder is not my wheelhouse, but many here know PCGS holders from fakes. Good catch 'D'!...

I agree Kenny, the coin is definitely counterfeit along with the PCGS label. Bruce
