10 years ago I bought a large collection of coins from Mark Kimpton, the author of the book "Elite Clashed Morgan Dollars".
(It was a big pop, but he was nice enough to let me make installment payments over the course of a year. )
There are 123 coins in the collection.
23 of them are the plate coins that he used for the Super CD book.

Of the 131 coins, 92 are Discovery Coins. (There would have been more, but 11 of his original discovery coins were "delisted" over time. I couldn't get John to label them "former Discovery coin"

I recently sent the collection to ANACS, to reholder and label them. All of the coins in new ANACS holders, labelled "Mark Kimpton Collection". The coins which were plate coins also have that on the label. And of course the Discovery coins are labeled as such. (Thanks John, for your hard work. )
The one exception is an 1883-CC VAM-5 MS63PL which is still in the GSA holder, with an ANACS label on the holder.
I paid 50K for the collection 10 years ago. From a pure investment point of view, I would have been much better served to put that into Bitcoin. but I've owned a piece of VAM history for 10 years, so what the heck.
I suspect that I won't get 50K if/when I sell the collection at auction, especially if you factor in the buyer and seller premiums. And I'd prefer to keep the collection intact, rather than scatter it to the 4 winds in an auction. It's a historically signficant (at least to VAM collectors:)) collection.
I will sell the whole collection for 40K, if there is anyone out there that wants to step up and take advantage of a once in a life time opportunity. If you are SERIOUSLY interested, DM me, and I'll send a spreadsheet which lists all the coins, with grades.
I am NOT going to piece it out a coin at a time, it is the whole collection or nothing. (Selling at auction is still my plan B, but a couple of folks recommended that I post here to see if anyone had a serious interest, before I sent it to an auction house. )
