Re: 2 more unknown 1921-Ds
Coin #1 has no match that is presently listed on 1921 D Die Crack Break Guide. The die crack from D left into the wreath does not match up with a die crack from bottom serif of L thru top of A into right wreath.

Re: 1921-D VAM 1B1 EDS?
This 1921 D is one of the earlier die stages of VAM 1B1. The capped R break is forming off the die crack above R.
Please note that the listing for VAM 1B EDS is a separate very early die stage listing. See VAM 1B EDS Photos

1923 D Peg Leg Upgrade
Just picked an AU 58 1923 D VAM 1B2 Peg Leg with great details on the rim die breaks across from ONE on the reverse. This stage is slightly earlier than the VLDS pictured on the Page. High grade examples of the Peg Leg VAM 1B2 VLDS have been very elusive!

Re: peculiar 21d reed queation
RE: "A rotating collar die is noted as the cause of this overlapping." Please explain what this means. Think we've mixed a couple of things here. There are several of the overlapping reeding varieties that are known with the noteworthy segments located in variable positions. This is from the collar...

Re: peculiar 21d reed queation
There was no definition on the Page about this term. I would interpret a "collar die rotation" as some lateral play or looseness in the collar die like mechanical doubling occurs with the obverse and/or reverse die. Comment on Page about "collar rotation" is under the 1884 O VAM 42B which says "Reed...

Re: OT - 1976 Ike Clashed Letters D WE plus INDENT
This IKE $ shows strong obverse clashed collar die marks below and right of date with adjacent rim die break. Recent discussion about rim die breaks resulting from collar clashes prompted me to post this example. Another weaker obverse collar clash is also evident at 1:00. Clashed collar die marks c...

Re: peculiar 21d reed queation
The collar die is the third die involved in striking coins. Overlapping reeding is a noted variety on the Page with the 1884 O VAM 4, 4A, and 4B as examples. A rotating collar die is noted as the cause of this overlapping. The centered lines between the reeding look like machining marks left when th...

Re: Another over graded ANACS coin.
Overgraded I agree. No reverse design left should equal the grade .5
However, I have never seen a fractional grade.

Re: ANACS grades in
Nice to see VAMs 1i3 1J 1K3 1N3 1W3 and 1AA2 included on this order. ANACS population does not show a single specimen for VAM 1i3 or 1W3. Scribble photography must be challenging on those late die state VAMs. Thanks for updated scribble photos on the Page. Late die state 1921 D coins have to be grad...

Nice to see a new 1922 D VAM 2CG listing in 2022! Congrats Tom and thank you especially for that 1922 D VAM 2D3 DC listed in 2015. A VAM 2D3 was returned in my last ANACS order as an AU 58. Keep up the good work!!

Re: 1923 s Unlisted Radial Die Break
Yes, that radial die break matches my coin. Why is this PUP not listed under VAM 1AG? My coin shows the radial die break on the rim and all the way up the rock to the tip of the far right talon. This specimen looks to be mint state, but it's struck through grease center obverse and center reverse. P...

Re: New Morgans for gold
Previous instructions, going back to pre-Civil War were that standard silver dollars were only produced on the order of silver depositors. They were tariffed at $1.04 to $1.08 in gold. (This was in part a result of 1853 reduction in smaller silver coin weight and legal tender status.) Collectors we...

Re: 1881 O Rim cuds?? What is this
Rim die breaks are rather scarce and they are collectible in my opinion. They can also make excellent die markers used to identify a certain variety and/or die stage. Check out the clashed collar with long rim die break on 1922 D Reverse VAM 16 B .
