Re: 1921 VAM-1, 17-Berry Reverse

Interesting. I can't find a match either. The closest I came was 84, but I don't think that's it. 23 made me pause too.

Re: 1886 VAM-6B Extra Breaks & Dots?

Sorry Chris, but my interest in the 1886 date begins and ends with VAM 20.
@fogie would be buckets more help than me.

Re: How TPG's fudge turnaround times

Raw Trade dollars order that was posted as "Received" on July 28 (just a straight raw grading order; no variety attributions) is still stuck at "Received".

another mystery 1921-S

Not a huge amount to go on with this one, aside from some decent cracks. There is a Z shaped group of chunky polishing lines (?) in the lower right scribbles zone, and a vertical die scratch (?) in the upper inside of the ear. I also see modestly doubled/tripled left and right stars. Thanks for any ...

Re: 1921-D VAM-1N2 to 1N3 transition point?

Does anyone have a VAM 1N3, with the crack above the T into the rim, in low grade (VGish) for the purpose of showing how the break on the D looks when well worn? If I'm going to list a VAM 1N4, I want to be sure that it can still be differentiated from VAM 1N3 in lower grades where the rim is still...

Re: Crack-filled 1921-D

Thanks Chris! LOTS of minor markers are a perfect fit, although the coin I have here is a much later die state than the one I photographed for the attribution page. That one has none of the most dramatic cracks (nose, chin, back of hair, over ONE, or above the 1st S) shown in this thread. Matching s...

Re: 1921-D VAM-29 Potential Obverse Die Markers

I have a VAM 29. It looks to be a slightly earlier die state than the one you show, as it doesn't have the left wing tip crack (and I'm not sure your photo of the star next to CA really shows doubling). But my coin has everything else in your post. This site creates the potential for almost endless ...

Re: Crack-filled 1921-D

600 dpi LFCP images, which should allow for quite a bit of on-monitor enlargement. LFCP obverse copy.jpg LFCP reverse copy.jpg And more cracks... These from 921, and right stars 1-2-3, and right stars 4-5-6: crack 21-stars.jpg And finally (I think) the crack from right star #5 into the back of Liber...

Crack-filled 1921-D

Can anyone help identify which VAM this is? I've struck out with both the scribbles and die crack break guides, despite there being so many unusual cracks. This is the most unusual individual crack in my opinion: the horizontal one above and across the full width of the first S in STATES: crack wing...

Re: NEW GAME,,,,, VAM "The Price is right "

JohnGoldsmith is the winner! My actual price was $200 + $15 grading -- which was a huge bargain at the time. The Micro-Os in PCGS holders were selling for crazy money at the time, as seen in this price sample from back in the day: 1896-O Micro 4 45 ANACS Dec-07 VQ $602 1896-O Micro 4 40 PCGS Nov-04...

Re: NEW GAME,,,,, VAM "The Price is right "

This one comes with a history lesson for those of you who weren't around during the fake 1896-1900-1902 Micro-Os melt bucket treasure hunt (that's where a lot of them were found) during roughly 2000-2005. Unlike many collectors, the last of the grading companies somehow didn't figure out they were b...
