Right. And then it's tied to the Hangnails through VAM 49.

Coin was graded in 2002. Looks like VAM 55, which didn't exist at the time. Are the lines in the wreath leaves just to the left of the bow present? BTW, I own a VAM 16 and 17A. VAM 16 is clearly earlier in the progression. I think the whole stated progression needs a review with the various pieces ...

Looks like it was 79-S VAM 128 in early November according to my records, but there may have been others after that last year.

I discovered 1B. The non Leroy's photo on 1B page does not match the discovery coin.
So yes, the obverse of VAM-1B is different than your coin.
I can add some 1B photos later.

This 97-S die pair has the obverse of VAM 17 and the reverse shown for VAM 1B. To add to the confusion, the pictures on the VAM 1B page that aren't Leroy's are also the VAM 17 obverse.
