Re: 1878-P V165 Value

Don't know but I'm curious to hear if there is info at this grade (as I have one, too) - as well as higher grades as I have a few (up to a PCGS 62)...

Re: S/So much fun with 1898-S VAM-6 coins/s

How can there only be 4 registered in the SSDC database? Are these that rare or are they that much of an unsung of a hero? I can't recall offhand many mintmark doubling that resembles these so I'd expect more interest, either by registration or by accolade to this post because I'm over the moon that...

S/So much fun with 1898-S VAM-6 coins/s

If you're not familiar with thes/se coins/s, you really s/should be. I've been hunting one since seeing it on JR's 2018 list ( http://ec2-13-58-222-16.us-east-2.compute.amazonaws.com/wiki/John_Roberts%27_Annual_Lists for the entire bunch...). No, not found in any Redfield holder - yet - but was exci...

Re: Mint policy regarding where silver dollars were produced

Fascinating. Money problems (i.e., costs) regulating money issues (i.e., logistics) and (unstated but undoubtedly?) certain peoples' ability to make money off of making money (i.e., 'public servants' with personal interests)?

Re: 1878-s Vam 1C

Lovely coin, for sure, but the ANACS population only covers a small population of what is truly out there. SSDC has at least 4 in MS65, 9 in 64 and 10 in 63. Not a rare find but a wonderful one just the same. My wild guess: not much premium until you hit the highest grade and, even then, something b...

Re: My own 78-S head scratcher I need help with (please)

Thanks, Tim. I think this is a case where TCITC (the coin is the coin) - akin to TDITD with the die - in that it has a few extra minor things and missing a few minor things as each coin would be expected to. The major things match and that's what counts, eh?! Thanks to all the others, too, for my ed...

Thanks. My confusion (still) because I'm not seeing all the PUPs (lacking line(s) in the T of LIBERTY, the lines behind the eye, the lines to the right or the right cotton boll and the leaf, the extra lines descirbed in this post (crossed 'x' lines in right cotton leaf above the Y of LIBERTY, etc.) ...

Re: My own 78-S head scratcher I need help with (please)

The VAm-110 is one of the 78-s vAms I do not have. Thanks, lewisr2 . Not all of us can have extensive collections like fogie , tc94545 or Mhomei , but it seems your personal collection is quite extensive! Seeing your 112 might help, though. Brent, would it be easy to pull your 110 DC out for a side...

Re: My own 78-S head scratcher I need help with (please)

Update. Coin came back graded 62 (nice to see) but with a note from vampicker stating: Obverse markers match VAM 112. The VAM 110 obverse may be the same die pair. Woul dneed an example of the variety to confirm and revise listings if correct. Added a note to the VAM 112 page. Thus, a bit of clarity...

It's a wiki site. And it has a history tab. You could fix this yourself and you could find out who you've targeted for your opinion.

There's a right way to critique the work of a VOLUNTEER, and this ain't it by any stretch of the imagination.

Re: 1890S with Die Break through Right Star in Reverse

What a lovely and messed up year and mint - love the mixture of die breaks available. I'm interested if this one pans out to be a new pattern/variety. I piced up a nice VAM-30 with a massive RI(CA) and left wing break...

Re: weekly bay of E listings

I'm not an eBay person but decided to go on and visit 'thedadz' and now I know why I don't commonly go onto eBay... because I get easily confused. Am I reading this correctly that the 1887-S VAM-2 ANACS 62 is $549.99 when the SSDC guide puts it at $205? (This would be cool because my PCGS 64 might b...

Re: 1879 O VAM?

Agree a bit of tidying up is needed. IMHO, if the picture(s) on the page are incorrect, they need to be changed. The description from the official 'big book' is the standard to adhere to, not the picture(s). If your coin matchest the (incorrect) picture it isn't a VAM-22? As I see it, the picture wi...

Re: 1899-O VAM-11 ,1922-P VAM?

The machine doubling on the VAM-11 has been described elsewhere: http://www.vamworld.com/forum/viewtopic ... 7&start=40. I thought one of my own might have both machine and die doubling, which I think is still in question, but the machine doubling is definitely real and definitely a bugger!

Re: 1899-O VAM-11 ,1922-P VAM?

I picked up a PCGS 64 years ago when I first ran across them... only to have my dream shattered by those more in the know. Still, I love the coin b/c she is a purty one! Love the micro-O varieties but am particulary drawn to the http://ec2-13-58-222-16.us-east-2.compute.amazonaws.com/wiki/1899-O_VAM...
