@DHalladay
Dennis,
If you want to add two 1878-S VAM-36 die 1 sales to you records.
An offer was made that I could live with.
Both went to the same party.

Re: OT; Thanksgiving Break

Thanks JR. Bisecting die break it is. I was sort of having fun with the retained cud thing. As I understand a retained cud is a break that goes from rim to rim. Usually, it isn't half of the coin. I do like this one. :D UNCLE BINGO I'll have to chew on that for a little while. Thanks again, ev...

Re: OT; Thanksgiving Break

I was looking at my broken Bust dollar again.
So how do you decide what part is the retained cud? Is it the upper or lower half?

Re: Show off some of your best vams!!

5A is super easy to attribute when you look in the eagle's right wing (left wing as you view it).
Go to the VAM-5 page for the dead give away pick up (two lines) in the eagle's wing.

Read the text also. The reverse is not limited to 5 & 5A.

Re: Show off some of your best vams!!

Be very careful about using clash location to attribute a 53A. I cannot tell you how many times I have seen a 5A or 11A "attributed" as a 53A. They are NOT 53As. But the clash looks similar to a 53A, so that is where the "attribution" ends. I am suspicious of any 53A that is claimed without photo do...

Re: Show off some of your best vams!!

Here is another one of my favorites.
Very hard to find 1880 VAM-53. 53A is a lot easier to find. This is mine in PCGS MS-63PL and on the VAM-53 page.

Re: OT: Whoops!

PCGS customer service reminds me of Lily Tomlin on Saturday Night Live. She did a fake commercial where she worked for the Phone Company. Her catch line was "We Don't Care. We don't have to. We're the Phone Company". That's pretty much the line I've gotten from PCGS. The clip is pretty funny. Take a...

Re: 1922-P Peace Dollar VAM Help......continued

No problem. You don’t know how hard a time I had when I was learning how to work VAMworld 1. VAMworld 2 is a little different but I’m sure you will pick it up. As far as posting 5 photos. You can only post 5 at a time. But you can post as many as you want on the same thread. Post 5 photos and submit...

Re: 1922-P Peace Dollar VAM Help......continued

tj52,
Welcome to VW.
Please don’t make a separate post to continue a thread about one coin.
Continue talking about the topic on a single post.
There is a lot of good information here.
Good luck and enjoy yourself.

visit https://www.maddieclashes.com/ and follow their directions. It may take them a while to get back to you. They are also actively involved in the new CONECA listing pages that are intended to replace Variety Vista - a mammoth undertaking. This cool is cool enough that it may elicit a faster res...

JR, if this is a known variety, does ANACS list this variety on the holder?

OT; Quarter Variety

I think that this is my favorite US clashed coin I own. And I have several TOP POP clashed VAMs. I have never seen a VAM with the number of letter transfer that this coin has. It may be hard to see all the letter transfer by my photos, but in hand it is AMAZING. A recent post made me think about ask...

Re: 1884 VAM 1C variant?

Not a 1C
Wrong date location.
Wrong clash location.
I'll look at listings later to let you know the VAM.
But hopefully you can get it on your own.
Good luck.
