1922 VAM 7A

I swung by my local B&M to pick up a little bullion just in case to economic Doom and Gloom people are correct. And my dealer has added a new catagory of dollars that can be purchased at the current spot price of silver. Theses are a little better than the real culls. I quickly picked out a few that...

Re: VERY VERY OT, this is why I hate him.

To a lesser degree, why would you take the car to a mechanic to have the nuts removed? It seems like driving with all that under the hood might risk greater damage. But to a greater degree, learn to process the nuts. Back in 1985 I was renting a place that had a walnut tree. In the fall, I picked up...

Re: Is this Collar Clash listable?

My mentor may have coined the phrase "die poop." Not every little change in the die is worthy of a new VAM designation. But due to personal constraints, I find that an investigation and recording of changes within a die may be useful later. I guess that is a die study. It's what I can do, and it's w...

Re: Is this Collar Clash listable?

John, I sincerely appreciate your input. I'm not shopping for the answer I want to hear, I'm shopping for intelligent input before wasting Leroy's time. I think you've helped me accomplish that. The VAM in question is the 1904-O VAM 46 die pair #1. On the page Morgan VAMs by Date , the collar clash ...

Re: Is this Collar Clash listable?

I intentionally omitted details of the coin so as not to create any bias..
And as I don't want to waste Leroy's time, I thought I would ask here first.
I'll allow a little time for others to advise, then reveal the VAM.
Thanks for the input.

Is this Collar Clash listable?

Is the collar clash large enough to be listed as a separate VAM?

1921-P Pitted Dies, can't identify.

Greetings fellow VAMers. I've been gone too long and not quite back on the horse yet, but I needed to break away from my routine just long enough to have a little fun. The coin is a 1921-P with pitting on the obverse and reverse. I need help identifying as I am a little rusty. Thank you for your tim...

I may have missed it, if it was spam filtered.
Is there a repository where past issues have been archived for viewing.
Still trying to get back in the swing of things, and it may be another few months, but I miss you all.

Re: 1891 0. Clashed 'E'. VAM 1A..?

It doesn't seem that long ago, (when I was just starting out and believed I knew almost everything) that I mocked the low ball collectors and compared them to someone that would collect firebombed automobiles.
Time has a way of expanding one's perspective.

Re: My First Try at Conservation

I've spent thousands of hours experimenting with coin conservation. Cheap and common foreign coins seemed like a good place to start. I'm not trying to fool the experts into grading a coin higher than it ought be, but to stop ongoing corrosion and increase eye appeal. Other than an acetone bath, I h...

Re: Auction Protocals

Thank you both for your insights. I ask because I have, in the past, notified one of the most noted auction houses of a mis-attribution on the holder, and was treated with such regard that I felt as though I hadn't spent enough money with them to have my opinion considered. Despite my documentation....

Auction Protocals

I see one of the larger auction houses offering a VAM that was not correctly attributed.
It it considered a courtesy to inform them of the error, or should I just keep quite and let it be between the house and the buyer?
Thanks for any input.
