The fact that it is difficult to say leads me to think the best solution may be to scrap the current 1L1, 1L2, and 1L3 and create new ones as I mentioned above, yours being 1L3. Here's the break across the top of the M of my coin, which looks to be MUCH more pronounced than the plate image. Or is that just an illusion?

There are more scribbles there than you think. Take your strongest loupe and look at it from the 3 o'clock position with a light source over your right shoulder.

Without seeing the coin in hand I'm leaning more toward 1L2.

Looks like a business strike to me.

$3,500 delivered. Natural, even 'dirty grey' surfaces on both sides. I personally submitted this coin to PCGS for grading in May 2004. I can't speak to the Peace Dollar and Half Dimes books, but the others are all long out of print, had relatively few printed, are in constant demand, and are rarely available for sale. I can offer no help other than to wish you the best of luck in your search.

Here's another one that is not a TRU-T in my opinion (graded AU53 by PCGS and attributed as VAM 1A "TRU-T" on the holder). In fact, if I owned that coin and it was raw, I wouldn't even think about sending it in to try for the VAM attribution. But what do I know?

VAM .45 would be appropriate, but is probably too much to hope for.
