Re: I think Heritage made a BIG mistake

.....lets try it. On three, everyone crack all your coins out of their slabs...lets see what happens! .... It won't work unless everyone is on board. Just an idea... I would bet everything would work out just fine.

Re: 1921-P honest eye?

That is what you guys are teaching me here... Why would you think someone would alter the eye on a common date Morgan? learning to observe fine detail in things and ignore destraction (noise), is one of the lessons here. I believe people would enhance a coin if they could. In a effort to show its t...

I have a hard time explaining myself...thank you for your patience.

What I am trying to say. From just this one photo can you detect altercations? Enhancements? Cleaning? I know it is unfair... just like Ebay.

Re: Plug for JB

I've been trying to learn to use a camera and have my suspicions whether it is being honest with me all the time. Light can make such an illusion. It could be JB persuading the camera to tell the truth, no easy task. He maybe a paleontologist also...The two professions are related, IMO.

Re: 1921-P Morgan VAM 35 upper tail talon

I took a quick look at the VAM-35 page. While the main title is correct, a subtitle lists it as a 1935-P. I also vote debris. If it were ever encapsulated and then broken out, small bits of plastic can find their way to a coin's surface. Probably not likely here, though. ...Pretty sure not encapsul...

Looks like a booger!! I except that as a 'pick at it' vote. Probably my Grandfathers. It is from his collection of.... coins. 1921-P Morgan VAM 35 upper tail tip (now removed)

Screenshot_2020-02-04-16-51-02.png Hello all       Any idea what maybe going on with this upper tail?   It's on what I think is a VAM 35.  The bump does not seem to be magnetic from my crude testing. Its edges seem to blend with the surounding field.   Its all I can do to keep from picking at it, b...

Re: 1921-P VAM-3ED1

Reminds me of what some very old varnishes look like on wood, although the scale is much different. I wonder if there is a thin film of something on the coin. I have seen this surface before also, but can't find a photo. I am thinking it maybe in an old pocket watch? Maybe a coating used there? Int...

Now that is one difficult jigsaw puzzle. My guess is a planchet metallurgical variation because of the way the field and detail interact. Most interesting!

If I had to guess, from just that one photo, using a Galaxy 4: It could be a jeweler with some fine silver soldering tools and skills. I have even made simular shapes in my soldering attempts on a circuit board.

Different alloys in the solder reacting with the silver/copper may be a problem. Alot of different kinds of solder I think.

This old Cowboy did not treat his coins well. He had some different reasons for collecting, I'm thinking.
I am positive he wasn't thinking of sending me to Fla.

Re: 1882-O Could this be my ticket to fun in Fla.?

Well, at least if you're sharing an Uber to the show from the airport with someone, you've pretty much got your half covered. Almost. ;) If I gave this coin to the Uber driver as our tip, would I be supporting the fine art of collecting or criminal counterfeiting? In otherwords, do you think, from ...
