Re: Need some Help with 1921 P D2 Please :)

I'll look for the discovery letter for that variety when I get the chance, probably tomorrow night. Then I can put the actual specification on VW.

It appears to be a moderately late die state 21P VAM 3FL to me...
I agree with this.

... 1) At this point I have multiple VSS-attributed VAM 1AZ examples, as well as multiple ANACS-attributed VAM 12 examples; they all match. On the one hand, it’s all fine and I have both registry slots filled, but on the other hand it would be more intellectually satisfying if I could get @vampicke...

The photos on GC aren't any better, but the UI for viewing them is. One thing at a time.

Re: 1879-O HairD mystery

1879-O not having been rigorously studied is contributing to you not finding a match for minor die markers. Date and mint mark might be your only indicators of which variety it is.

Looks like VAM 1DU.
John: Yes it does! But a much earlier die state with very strong scribbles, no spike coming out of Liberty's cap under the S, and no bean bottom S. Would this make the listing splitable, as was recently done with 5C1-5C2?
Need both coins.

Re: New 80-P Checkmark Variety

I just checked some pictures I have for VAM 41 that I took a long time ago for someone who was studying the date. The coin was circulated and most things to look at were on the obverse. It's pretty safe to say that there are multiple die pairs out there currently attributed as VAM 41. Looking forwar...

Re: New 1900 O VAM 72 Dentical Impressions?

@messydesk Is there a misprint on the official listing? The listing says Far Date, but the photo says near date. Congratulations on the DC. Cut and paste error on the discovery letter. The text on VAMWorld is correct. Wow, JB is human. Who knew. But really, thanks for all you do. You’re awesome JB!...

Re: On a 1921-S question, prooflikes

21-S is the Morgan dollar most seldomly found in PL, relative to its MS population. I think 1901 beats it in terms of absolute rarity, but there are 7 1921-S in PL, 0, count 'em, 0 in DMPL in the PCGS pops. Of the three pictured on CoinFacts, none are attractive. Two (from the same die pair) have lo...
