Re: PDF files from the old VW

So is this new policy as it was in the file repository at the old VW? If it's no longer linkable, I'll remove the great info regarding the 83O V36 die progression article. Sad...... It probably shouldn't have been in the old VW repository unless there was permission to use it. I'll ping DHalladay s...

Re: 1881-O Die Pairing Question

The 18 photo is an exact match for both VAM 13 and 47. The reverse is from VAM 53. Therefore, your coins is a VAM 47, which is a scarce to rare die marriage made from two LDS dies, especially the reverse. I have no VAM 47s in my database of 1000+ 1881-Os that I have seen.

Re: PDF files from the old VW

VAMView is a copyrighted publication, and I don't want to upload it to the public wiki without permission being obtained first. Currently, the SSDC has permission to put the VAMView archives on the registry server, as it is only available to SSDC members there.

Thank you John,
Where do I look for the vam 6C die break, because I didn't see it mentioned on the vam 6C page?
Right field behind Liberty's hair. The 2015 supplement shows it.

Re: How's The New Vam Site?

I just use the editor on my old Note 3 phone. I've had to exclusively use my old Note 3 because it takes great photos while making cropped pics around 1mb. My Galaxy s8+ takes amazing pics too but after cropping they only go down to around 2-4mb. About the hight/width, I dont think my phone editor ...

Re: I need help with my 1886 NGCMS63

First rule about the rarity numbers is to take them with a grain of salt. Also, VAM 6C refers to a later die stage with a medium sized chip in the field behind Liberty's head as shown in Leroy's 2015 supplement. The stage with the clashed 'n' worn away and no die chip in the field is probably one of...

Closer than you think. Midnight GMT is when it goes away, so 6:00 in Chicago, do the math for elsewhere. I'll have to drink a toast before dinner.

Also, to get a clashed E on a Peace dollar requires a rather strong clash, which will show elsewhere on the coin as well.

Re: How's The New Vam Site?

That is what I meant. Vamworld 2.0. Just a little confused. VAMWorld 2.0 is the new VAMWorld. I tried to make it look as much like the old one as possible, except that the discussion board is very much separate from the wiki. There's no link to VAMs by Date from the discussion board, but the "VAMWo...

It's indexing the board so that searches for stuff talked about here show up in Google searches. There's a "bing [bot]", too, once in a while.

Re: I need help with my 1886

It is one of the VAM 6s. Most likely the clashed 'n' is too worn away to see. Probably the most common die marriage for 1886. It does look like the VAM 6C die break might be present, though.

Re: Old VAMWorld Threads

:o I wonder how large the paperback edition would be if we had to print a harcopy of the entire old discussion board.. Tolstoy or Ken Starr? An interesting question, so I looked into it. I used a simple word count command to count the words in the JSON file and came up with 9,618,555. This overstat...

Re: 1885-CC VAM 4 pixs & questions

1. The front edge of Liberty's eye. 2. Some do, some don't, I assume. I doubt it's unusual. 3. Usually stuff around there is outlining of the motto present on the hub that wasn't cleaned up from the die. I imagine this is the case here, because... 4. ...this is the same stuff. 5. Not acid. That was ...

Re: How's The New Vam Site?

Why are there no "reverse" pictures listed. Instead, we have 2 obverse full length repeated pictures. Can you say redundant? If you're referring to the full-coin pictures, click on the little arrow icons above them to view the other side. They're shown this way to reduce the amount of vertical scro...
