Re: 1888-P non-slanted date VAM-39B?

And the reverse pictures - not much help... if anything, they confuddle things because the cracking pattern along the UNITED is similar to the http://ec2-13-58-222-16.us-east-2.compute.amazonaws.com/wiki/1888-P_VAM-16 ? 1888-P non-slanted date VAM-39B?

Have a head-scratcher. I don't see this as a slanted date, but the die crack along the left stars looks eerily like the VAM-39B which is supposedly slanted. Was hoping some of the additional PUPs would help me, but the ones I'm seeing are interesting but not diagnostic... Thoughts to those of you wh...

Third batch, I didn't see significant doubling on the other left stars but I did on these: 4th: 1878P-V116C 4th left star detail GR.JPG 6th: 1878P-V116C 6th left star detail GR.JPG 7th: 1878P-V116C 7th left star detail GR.JPG And the arrow feather scratches on the reverse: Arrow feather scratches.JPG

1878-P VAM-116C additional pictures

See that none of the VAM-116 pages have detailed pictures of some of the PUPs so I though I'd add some from a 116C EDS I have (wished it were LDS so I could have the wonderful bow gouges, but no such luck). If these help, please feel free to add any or all of them. Gary FCO.jpg FCR.jpg Eye chip.jpg ...

Adding new DCs to SSDC registry please?

Put a message into SSDC but not had a response back so thought I'd ask here. Can an administrator please add slots for two of my recent DCs - 1886-P VAM-1P and 1887-S VAM-8A - into the registry so I can enter them (as can others if they have them, too)?

Thanks,

Gary

I've looked for "U" a long time, I found "U," and I love "U"...

A VAM love story. Well, my version of one. First, I love how U look from afar: FCO.jpg Oh, and your backside ain't half bad either: FCR.jpg The closer I look at U, the more I'm fascinated by what I see: PICA0003.jpg And the beauty only increases as I get even closer: C_WindowsTempA012 - 20211019_111...

Re: 1888-P VAM7 stage help, please?

Bumping this to the top so my 'tweener' doesn't get relegated to the depths of the discussion board.

Any thoughts on what stage mine might be?

Any interest in revisiting the set by sending a lot off to Leroy to decode?

Happy to help if I can,

Gary

Re: 1883-S Scribble Jaw

Love how the San Fran mint was brutal with their dies between 1878 and at least 1882 (but scratching the heck out of them well beyond that). Can't imagine needing to depend on reusing whatever working dies they had available - and the immense pressures to produce as many as they did (approx 9-12 mil...

Re: Favorite Non-List VAM

One that makes Lady Liberty look a bit more feminine - http://ec2-13-58-222-16.us-east-2.compu ... 3-O_VAM-33.

Pretty little hair clip around a major curl, not many (if any) others described as "hubbing debris impression" (unless I've missed one). Only 20 in SSDC consensus.

Similar to @fogie, my head hurts but I LOVE the convoluted story that is unfolding.

Reminds me of my family tree...

Great job for helping clarify the situation even slightly.

Re: Questions about SSCD "Buffed Reverses" registry

Thanks again to all who have contributed to the discussion. I see my interest and confusion are echoed elsewhere... Which leave a few of the questions still unanswered, but these will come in due time. I appreciate the differences between die fatigue and 'overbuffed' dies - polishing lines, shallow ...

Questions about SSCD "Buffed Reverses" registry

Don't know if I can/should ask this here, but how are additions to SSDC registries woven in? I.e., I'd like to ask the new discovery coin to be included. The VAM-81 is a new addition/variety ( http://ec2-13-58-222-16.us-east-2.compute.amazonaws.com/wiki/1880-O_VAM-81 ) to the 1880-O family of mistre...

I'd offer to send my 1.5 or whatever it is to LVA to help.

Thanks for the input. I thought I was simply missing something. Which I usually am. All the time, damnitall...

If others are willing to do the same, say the word and we'll keep Leroy busy for a short while.

Appreciatively,

Re: First good find in years

Nice to see, Bert!

Had one of those beauties slip away from me in the past - failed to bid high enough deeply knowing I'd regret it.

And I do.

I'll enjoy the find vicariously through you (as I do many of your coins!).
