Re: tail feathers

I'll bite first: Is this a Bletchey Park https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bletchley_Park puzzle for us to solve? If so, we'll need more hints. 1921 - Morgan or Peace? And when you say "Info on the page that shows info on...", what page (or pages?) do you mean? I'll admit, you have me stumped. ;)

If someone sends me both coins, I'll make it happen.
Thanks, JB. I'm sure there are owners of 16As out there - please PM me so we can coordinate a shipment to John?

My own 78-S head scratcher I need help with (please)

Engraved wing feather area doesn't match up to what my poor eyes can see on the guide page ( http://ec2-13-58-222-16.us-east-2.compute.amazonaws.com/wiki/1878-S_Engraved_Feather_GUIDE ) and I looked under the B2 guide ( http://ec2-13-58-222-16.us-east-2.compute.amazonaws.com/wiki/1878-S_B2_Varieties...

Re: 1883-O Clash OBV/REV cannot find VAM match

Great pictures. I think your original thought on http://ec2-13-58-222-16.us-east-2.compute.amazonaws.com/wiki/1883-O_VAM-21A is a good one but not quite correct. If there was a clash with letter transfer (creating the 21A) then the die got worn down so the letter transfer disappears... as it might b...

I just realise my NGC 64+ is the top :D
Congrats. Ten more non-plus 64s, six 63s and three 62s in the SSDC registry suggest this a more difficult coin to find in lower grades?

Re: 1883-O Clash OBV/REV cannot find VAM match

Love to help in the hunt. I'd definitely divide to conquer - looking at each separately versus trying to figure them both out at once.

The 83-O series is full of mimics so seeing each major PUP area clearly is necessary. Agree with @raynat3, date, MM, etc. would help a lot.

Re: 1886VAM?

One near and dear to my heart. I'll need to pull it out of storage to verify but the FCP of the obverse does look to have the same thing - that I and LVA might have missed... Other PUP pictures that might help are below. LVA did not include these so they're unofficial but they do come from the disco...

lhnumis1 , again THANKS for reigniting the passion for discovering what some of the coins we have in hand are. Your prompt led me to reexamine a few of my own and guess what... here's a few pictures of one I had in had and didn't know it. Sorry the pictures aren't the greatest but you'll hopefully ...

Prompt on the 1881-S VAM-16/16A listing(s)

Thus far I believe there's not been an official designation between the two - but most likely the 16A's lovely die chip makes it different? No, I don't have one but the NGC65 I have is most likely a 16... so I thought this a good prompt to ask if there could be an official decision on the 16A varian...

Brilliant and stuff I support! Matter of fact, your posts have encouraged me to go back to my 85 and 85-O coins to revisit them... and I have a myster on my hands now. Thanks for the encouragement (and the reignited quest). No worries about chaos, too. Love (and live by) it. Keep 'em coming. Wish yo...

Re: guess which 1888-O

Nice challenge. Unsure but I think I could guess and I'd guess lucky (luckily?). Doesn't match any of the ones I have (as far as I can tell).

Thanks for the head-scratcher (for now).

Re: 1885 VAM3

Thanks for the continued pictures, yet I am cursious/confused. Are you doing a die study of 1885 somehow, are you simply wanting to share pictures, or are you asking for confirmation of the VAM designation of the coins you're posting? If the first, awesome on the study but can the posts be tied toge...

Re: Reputability of SEGS & PCI?

I confirm with, buy the coin not the slab or the grade. When I first started collecting silver dollars, I saw this nice looking 1880 in an AAG slab and bought it. Many fellow coin collectors made fun of it, because of the AAG slab. I was never able to see any vams, but I just liked the way the coin...

Re: Did I do good?

Thanks all. I did not pay the price of what the label said: 65PL. Defo not 65 based on the chatter mostly on the reverse - the PL surface is fairly accurate, I believe, so most of what is seen is very superficial but by sheer number I thought 65 was way too liberal a grade. The small striations seem...

Re: LSD, baby, on an EDS?

Any clues about die use ordering? 36.1, 36.3, 36A, 36B and 113 all obviously incestous, er, same reverse paired with multiple obverses, but has the reverse PUP evolution been used to help determine the order? Sorry if this is already on the webpage(s) and I missed it(them).
