Re: 1878-S Vam 1, 54, 61, 67 maybe 91, 85 and 94 need to be reviewed
If presented with evidence that the EDS obverse has the gouge in the cap, I'll be more likely to eliminate VAM 91A and keep 91.

Re: Minor 1882-O shake-up
I noticed a note in the VAM 29A page that a later die state has been separated into VAM 29B but there is no 29B entry? VAMs 29 and 29B have been moved to the "Dubious" listing category under suspicion that there are no differences among them and that they're all VAM 29A. This would have to be prove...

Re: Eliminated VAM's
I don't send labels through the mail without the coin. If something has my label on it and the VAM number was eliminated, send the coin and I'll reprint the label for a reduced fee.

Re: OT - Feed Finger Gouges Or ?
Please explain how straight-line feeder/ejector mechanisms can produce radial makes on a die. Thanks They don't. The above statement is mistaken. Feed finger marks on the dies are going to be straight across the die, parallel to each other if there are multiple such marks, and on silver dollars the...

I need to give credit to Fogie who pointed out these duplicates and sent me the coins to examine. Coins in hand definitely make life easier.

Minor 1882-O shake-up
I went through a handful of "listing clean-up" coins today and fixed some stuff in 82-O. 82-O VAMs 1B, 26, 26A, 42, and 42A are all the same die pair. VAM 42 is listed with C3a, but Leroy’s picture is of a VAM 26A with the crack under the 1. Both earlier (no crack) and later die stage (lots of crack...

2022 VSS/PCGS Bulk Submission #2 Open
I've had a couple inquiries about the next bulk Morgan & Peace dollar submission. When in doubt, I always have one open, but I figured I'd make a more formal announcement. My fee is $6 plus shipping, PCGS's will depend on the grade they assign to the coins, which means I won't know total costs until...

Re: 1878-S dollar. Can you separate fact from fiction?
So can we speculate that the 78-S B2 minting process started on May 15? No. There were only 4 B1 reverses that produced coins in the second shipment of 15 die pairs received April 26. The rest of the production was B2, so either 11 of those reverses were unusable or some were B2. Due to die sequenc...

Damage. If it were a strike-thru, it would show on the eye. Damage may skip over the eye since it's slightly protected by the eyelids being higher relief.

Re: PCGS Frustration
Progress! Both remaining orders are in Encapsulation status! BTW, took advantage of a slab error not noticed by the dealer; bought a ‘62 1878 V203 slabbed as Rev of 1878. That happens quite often IMO. That's probably the most common mislabeling that comes back from bulk grading, although 18...

Re: 1878-S dollar. Can you separate fact from fiction?
Where did this come from: "We also know that the VAM 57 and 26 used the same reverse." This statement clearly says VAM 26 and 57 used the same ("identical')reverse....or is that supposed to refer the the REV HUB design not the specific die? Think it was simply a typo and he meant obverse. The three...
