Need to pick Wayne's Brain? 1889-P

Recently Picked, beautiful clashed and die polished 1889-P Has a triple? clash batwing, eyelash die polish lines, obverse is Flooded with polish lines. I am honestly not sure the difference between slanted date or raised 9? The triple clash I am leaning towards is a 19B2, but she doesn't have the Ey...

Re: 1896-P VAM-5A obverse scratches?

Neat Double! Part of me wishes that the initial descriptions on sort by date was more detailed, like "Extreme Doubled One", but another part really appreciates that it isn't.. it makes you hunt and learn. Coins like this 96 get put in the file cabinet in my head, a large mintage, not valuable, but w...

Really nice to see collections of coolness, rather than value, nice grade too.

Re: 1890 O mm set right help

You're gonna have to ask someone else how the numbers and `the descriptions work ... i just though based off the pictures you provided it was a match for the discovery coin plate photos listed for 16B ... the date sinched it but I did not look for a possible dbl listing with another number . I'm su...

Like the fact that it's not the chips but the mintmark is placed so different... how could it B from that A?

Re: 1890 O mm set right help

16B! Thanks Uncle Bingo and Mike7E. The other Die markers on the Obverse are all there. The small bump called a "raised dot" in the center is there, just not as developed as the other 2 towards the left. Yes I agree that this is nowhere near a raised O and that is what threw me too. I also believe t...

1890 O mm set right help

Thanks in advance... should be a quick answer but I am not seeing it. There are only (2) 1890 O set right on the sort by reverse with normal mint mark. This coin does not seem to meet any of the PUP's. There are (2) mini-bumps that hang off of the left wreath ribbon. Tons of polish marks. I can get ...

Happy Thanksgiving to all. I bet that Ben would have liked George's Eagle, and would have caught that 8 Tail Feather before going to press!

Re: 1926P Vam 6 or 7?

The difference between VAMs 6 & 7 has to do with doubling on the reverse, primarily in the leaves. VAM 6 is similar to VAM 2, although not as strong. VAM 7 has only slight doubling on the leg feathers, and doubling on the underside of upper olive leaf & berry. I need to redo many of my photos, incl...

1926P Vam 6 or 7?

I picked an uncirculated 26P with great doubling on the olive branches. The descriptions of VAM 6 and VAM 7 are so similar, and site images do not narrow down the VAM on the site, to my satisfaction. I am leaning towards a Vam 6 due to the Neck feature I noticed that only the U in TRUST is doubled t...

ANA Diploma Course?

I am curious if any of the members have either started or completed the ANA Grading Course? And if it was helpful with your existing skills? Would you recognize the grading abilities of a Member if they completed and passed the course? I realize that many of the members are extremely experienced, bu...

1899 O Vam 25B with clashing?

Recently picked an MS 1899 O VAM 25B with all the beautiful die cracks. But I noticed light clashing on the reverse due to Liberty's Nose and lips, curved around the left Olive wreath and terminating at the tip with the lip curves. This Clashing is not listed as part of the description, nor pictured...

Just my responses to all who have participated in the discussion. I am not going to make this a poke-fest, as social media can turn ugly, and there is enough tarnish in this world. During my member status time on the SSDC Forum, I have had members and non-members share their knowledge freely, some 1...

Re: Collar Clash -Correction- Solved

PER Vampicker- this is not ejection impact (or as Vampicker referred to as ejection doubling) but “Strike Doubling”. So anyone who noted this, please correct any adjustments you may have done in your references since this last post.
