Re: so many error messages

fwiw, i started a tracking folder on my notebook for all the errors (screenshots) i've been getting since c19 kicked in. not one single site i visit, none, have gone this whole time w/o various kinds of errors/site down. tbh, i think vamworld has one of the fewest error messages for me but i'm not h...

Re: Error? PMD? What is this…1903-O VAM-4A

i would call that a bottom-bagger coin but it got such a high grade which means it probably just took some very odd very unfortunate HARD hit by something that just mangled that area of the coin. PMD all day.

nice it is a 66 holder tho. :D

edited to add. that cac'ed? WOW

Re: OT TRADE DOLLAR

are not more advanced testing methods able to sort out 99.9% of the counterfeits? going back to that time period, it was probably almost as expensive for counterfeiters to meet the mint specs on coins as it is for todays. so i have to believe that even the best of counterfeits can be sniffed out wit...

Re: Were all 1921-PDS Morgan dies basined or not?

i gave NNP a try with a few versions of basin, basining, 1921 etc and it kept coming back to a guy staring at an empty bookshelf which is a first. seems i always turn up something related to my searches there. there are at least a couple other big online numismatic archives but the names/links escap...

Re: Retained Cud? 1H2 or 1H3?

I assumed that the displacement below the die break which is lower than the base above the break would make it a retained cud and possible 1H3. technically, h2 MAY actually still be a retained cud (a crack going from rim to rim not too far apart even w/o discernable displacement) but for a vam list...

Re: Retained Cud? 1H2 or 1H3?

from all the images, here and on the pages, i'd say it is h2. the h3, has more of the chips broken away at S3 along with movement of the die, which causes more depth on the area around S3 and towards S2. there is something off about all of it, so i'm gonna pull some images and do some comp and come ...

Re: we have all been waiting w/ eager anticipation

I'm not convinced that the "Peg Leg R" is anything but an overpolished die, but I haven't really studied them closely. i am under the impression that is the general consensus, them being abraded dies. what have you heard differently? with the MANY stages on several dates, including proofs i've seen...

Re: one of the top letter clashed coins i've seen to-date non-morgan.

Pup-picker - Please explain. It's Overton 110. But that really begs more information. The photos do not show a clash from a half dollar reverse die - or any single reverse die. The relative positions of visible lettering and the motto bits do not match a coin. what fogie said. this(these) clashes a...
