Wiki navigation shortcuts

On the wiki, there is a "search VAMWorld" box in the upper right of each page. If you search for something that is the exact match for the name of a page, you will be taken directly to that page with no further clicking on search results. Typing "1883-O VAMs" takes you directly to the listing of 188...

Re: Login issues

I had the "remember me" issue until yesterday when I fixed the forum's cookie configuration. Then I deleted my browser cookies and logged in and it's been working OK.

Login issues

If you've been having difficulty logging in, clear your browser cache and cookies and fry again. I had to reconfigure the cookies when the URL changed.

Is there a cataloged match for the lopsided mint mark set slightly left and upright?

Re: Question on Variety Descriptions

I guess I'd refer to the bold line as a heading for the listing, and the rest as the specification. What it's actually called depends on whether or not Leroy actually calls it something.

Good catch JB. The line is progressive indirect design transfer. Duh. Answering threads before coffee should be outlawed.
I don't drink coffee, so techinically every thread I answer is after I've had a beer.

Re: O/T Vammers Eye!!!!!

Heavy die wear. Eventually, the fields of a die will receive a "ghost" image from the outline of the design on the opposite die due to the way the metal flows. You are seeing the outline of the eagle's wings in the obverse field. The thinner the coin, the sooner these show up.

Yeah. I remember that one you picked up in Anaheim or Denver; a 66 IIRC?
65 from a Stack's/Bowers auction. Heritage just sold a similar one at the ANA show.

Re: Purdy 21........-S

Nice. When you find a well-struck 21-S with silky luster, you buy it. The spot on the lower reverse bugs me, but it's otherwise a nice looking coin.

Re: June 2018 submissions

I have them. I posted it on the BST board. I haven't done much with them due to wrapping up the migration and the ANA show, but now I can spend time getting everything worked up and getting people their grades and fees.

Re: NEW DC pages

I've used this process a couple of times. It really cleans up the page. Here's an example: http://ec2-13-58-222-16.us-east-2.compute.amazonaws.com/wiki/1903-P_VAM-5 Once the pics are uploaded, the rest it typing in the info and updating the photo names for the corresponding VAM. If the main pickups...

Re: NEW DC pages

My "to do" list includes adding a template for new listings to the new wiki. Until then, this is the best way to add a page: 1. Go to the 1878 VAM 9 page. It defines lots of sections and uses more Mediawiki features than the other pages. 2. Go into edit mode and copy all of the markup for the page t...

Re: email notification of PMs???

I will look into this Wednesday. I changed the "from" address for notifications from my personal one to a "no reply" address, and the AWS mail server might have choked on that.

Re: Pre-ANA VAMWorld Migration Updates

78-S did marriage charts seem to be missing http://ec2-13-58-222-16.us-east-2.compute.amazonaws.com/wiki/1878-S_Die_Marriage_Chart Custom objects, widgets, doo-dads, and such like the one that was there didn't get transferred. Likewise for the VAMs by date, which is one reason you see a simple tabl...

Re: VAMWorld wiki is back up

So what did you determine to be the problem? Logically, I wouldn't think the external linking parser would cause a problem as it was on at the old VW and all worked fine with that platform. This platform seems to be better and more than capable to have this option turned on. Thoughts?.......Andrew ...

I'll have to fix it tonight (probably by 5:00 CDT). This might have to do with my attempt at enabling inlining external image links last night.

I had an interesting conversation with David McCarthy (numismatist at Kagin's, ANA Numismatist of the Year for 2018) on Saturday about this and other interesting long nock stuff that's been in the news.

Here's the crude diagram I ended up drawing for myself at a late night hotel coin-lookin'-at session with John R and Ash that finally put me in the "26 EDS was first" camp.
