I think I have seen that crack you have above 'AMERICA' at 'ME' on a coin I have. I called my coin a Vam-1Ci.
The second 'S' in 'States' would need at least the beginnings of a 'bean in its bottom'.
Here is a photo of that area on my tired coin:

O.T. Washington 'Jetpack' lamination Error
share2.JPG I believe what we may have is a lamination error where the contaminate that caused the problem has leached out over time creating a contrail. It must have been some nasty stuff to stain out like that... Just my guess; any ideas what may be happening? It is not a Morgan, but it is silver....

Re: Why am I seeing these?
Maybe to see and test silver content?
I would guess to make a ring you would start drilling in the middle of the coin.
update: It looks like you may not drill at all to make a coin ring.

Great photographs!
That snake crawling down the 'L' in 'LIBERTY' would fetch a premium; especially if you caught one before it got hit.

Re: 1921 Denver Fun 'self-healer dies' Hypothesis:
I think I may have gone a bit overboard with ' the self-healing die' on the subject line. Understanding something by examinating it at the micro/nano level is not what Leroy is after. CascadeChris told me here all you need is a 10x loupe. That may be the proper direction... Thanks for sharing your k...

1921 Denver Fun 'self-healer dies' Hypothesis:
Hello Everyone, I have been looking at the Bean Bottom S page for help attributing my 3 1921-D Morgans, that you folks must be getting sick of looking at. (I almost am.) It got me wondering: "As you increase a die usage, i.e. continue to use worn-out dies; do you run the risk of healing existing die...

Re: 1921-D Fun with Die Crack Break Guide
Kissov Thank you for bringing my coin to the head of the class for further discussion. (I get to add 5 more photos) Today, after another review, I think this 1921-D Morgan is not a VAM-1E. It may just be a 'Tired Joe'. Joe spelled JOH and tired because it is too worn out to tell us its whole story....

RogerB Thank you for all your contributions to this site. Re: When striking pressure is too high
150 T/sq in was the max for silver dollar dies. Above that, as seen in Dec 1921, dies chattered, exploded, warped, etc. The video clip shows a cylinder, not a properly shaped die, which is much wider below the die face. Also, hydraulic pressure transfers force differently than a toggle or drop pres...

Re: "out for delivery" (USPS)
I believe anxiety like this may be lessened by building personal relationships with your letter carrier and his supporting team (on your end of the delivery/receiving process). I don't think there is much you can do with the middle of a delivery. This is just my opinion. Living in the woods may have...

The Rev. seems to match the Rev. of a 1921-D VAM-1AE1. (The obv. does not match): Jascan1921-D-1AErev.jpg revision: Not a match. I compared the last 'S' in 'States' with better photos at the end of this post. The Obv. seems to match that of a 1921-D Vam-1E: 1921-D Vam-1E (1).jpg http://ec2-13-58-222...

Re: Apply VamWorld Knowledge gently to your other areas
I am in the middle of writing an attribution guide for another series. It was the same period and thus the same cast of characters at the mints. So, obviously look for the same variety issues that are among the early Morgan dates at those same mints. Also gives me a pretty informed preunderstanding...

@Geseas i am not even sure how to answer that one. maybe i can take a picture of the book and you will figure it out. I found it. I just have to learn to point this machine in the right direction. upper tail.jpg Publisher : J. T. Stanton (January 1, 2001) ISBN-10 : 1892706555 ISBN-13 : 978-1892706553
