Ok. Thank you very much. Do the polishing lines indicate anything? They are under the cap, between the eagle wing gap, and between the leg and tail feather.
Die polishing lines are useful as markers to confirm a match to a known die, but that's it.

Re: OT; Duckor/Akers Saint Gaudens

I misspoke. They're either RPMs or doubled dies. 09-S/S, 11-D/D, 22 DDR, 25 DDR, 26 TDO.

Re: OT; Duckor/Akers Saint Gaudens

@messydesk ; JB, thanks for starting it off. Good luck Luck won't have much to do with it for me. I'll get stomped long before the hammer falls on that one. Funny thing is a couple weeks ago I was looking at the CPG. There are 6 Saints listed, and all but one (1909/8) are RPMs that are probably eas...

Re: 1889 Wrong attribution?

From what I can see, there's no clash that would warrant being listed as anything. The date is on the left side of the normal lateral position, but still normal. Any slant in the date is too slight to have been listed. The date also shows no signs of repunching. So far, this is VAM 1. If possible, p...

Re: 1878p Vam 31, 110 and 40 obverses

@vampicker, you rock and I'm so glad you're adding/correcting my input! I had no idea there were 3 different dies for the 200 listing - now I'll need to start a look out for the other two to complete my set. #mywifeisn'tgoingtobehappywithyou Not 3 dies for VAM 200, 3 dies with similar breaks. One f...

Sorry, yes, you did respond to that. I messaged you again and offered to let you look at the coin. I did not get a response to that. I could have messed up with sending that message.
I never received a second message.

Re: 1921 B over S in "PLURIBUS"

If you really want the truth about this coin, send it to JB (aka; messydesk).... We have seen this sort of thing time and time again. Like I said, the mind is a funny thing. Once you think you see something, it is very hard for your brain to see that same thing a different way. It takes a flexible ...

If Alan answers with a 1902-O attribution, you can take that to the bank.

Re: BORING ??????????????

No matter the hobby or segment of hobby, there are always people coming and people going. I'm frequently approving new members here. Some just drop by for a quick attribution, others stick around and get involved. The same thing happened in the early days of VAMWorld.

Re: 1889 dbld, trpld cotton boll, trpld, quad tailfeathers

89 is tricky to attribute because of all the doubled ears. Most of these are due to die fatigue, so the degree of doubling actually changes a little over time. Go through the 1889 Doubled Ear page. That should help with this one.

Re: 1880-P VAM-1G and VAM-35/35A (1F) clarification?

It looks like the VAM 35A picture (labeled VAM 1F) of the first 8 is shown alongside the first 8 from VAM 1G, perhaps to show that VAM 1G doesn't have the big blob in the bottom of the 8.

Re: 1881 O OVER POLISHED REVERSE VAM 1J

That looks like VAM 16 from the mint mark location. It's always PL on both sides, so the reverse die failure came immediately. The reverse was swapped out to become VAM 28.3, which is common. VAM 16 is decidedly not common.

No tablet. Just Photoshop, a mouse, and a 27" monitor.

Until I got to the last picture, I was thinking "poke it with a stick." Looks like it could be a tiny bit of "Longacre doubling."

I would like to see the supps continue. I don't recall seeing the 20-21 being available, but I need that one as well. Is it available? There is a 2020-21 supplement, but selling it is complicated. The text and photos are two different documents. Actually the photos aren't even a document, they're a...
