Re: Old Wiki Page Editing Cutoff
I just unlocked the home page. I may have locked it when trying to disable posting to the message board. That setting was hidden somewhere else.

Re: June 2018 VSS/PCGS Bulk Submission
Yes. Guess the turnaround! The order was logged in at PCGS on 7/10. Same rules as last time. One guess, closest to the date tracking says I can pick them up wins something. Guess by this Saturday (7/28). If they come back before that, I won't announce it, so as not to spoil the contest.

Re: 1928-P Super Pick
Well, if you can ID the VAM, then it's authentic, so if you pulled this from a junk box, congrats! Acetone should remove the goo, and that's probably what a TPG would use on the coin.

Re: 81-O Presentation from VAM Thing XV
Indeed. JohnR's 78-CC presentation from VAM Thing XV showed up as one of the links after I viewed the 81-O recording. I haven't gone through to see what else is there, but in general NNP is a great resource that I recommend people bookmark.

81-O Presentation from VAM Thing XV
For those who weren't able to attend, there is a recording of the presentation I did at VAM Thing XV back in January on the 81-O Morgan on the Newman Numismatic Portal. It's about 20 minutes long.

Re: Top-100 Want list VAMs
Bad idea to post cell numbers in a publicly readable forum. Private messages will sit in your outbox until the recipient reads it. This is a feature of phpBB, and allows the sender to edit the message before it is seen by the receipient.

Re: Help answering a question about VSS
I don't guarantee how a grading service is going to attribute a coin, nor does any other grading service guarantee how a different grading service will attribute a coin. I'd like to think that seeing my attribution and a photo will guide them to the correct attribution, but I have no control over wh...

Re: email notification of PMs???
Select the User Control Panel in the drop-down under your username. Then click on the "Board Preferences" tab, then "Edit Notification Options." There you can check the box to receive e-mail when someone sends you a private message. This isn't turned on by default. Send me a PM when you've done this...

Added Wiki link
I just added a link to the VAMWorld Wiki. Either clicking the silver dollar logo or the "VAMWorld Wiki Home" will currently take you to the old wiki. I will change this to go to the new wiki once it's up and running.

Re: 1887 P VAM 6 or 6A
I think it has to do with the die life. The earlier stage of VAM 6A do not have the chip. I know the description on the page say it has but I have several that do not. I have one that has a chip on the right side of the first 8 and nothing on the left side. I looked at 6 VAM 6A's. Die chips don't m...

Re: 1900-O VAM-29A ??
One thing that can make it easier to tell the VAM 29A from the VAM 35 is that the 29A is usually circulated while the 35 is usually mint state.

The old VAMWorld Wiki is still up and running. The new one will have a "VAMs by date" page once the new wiki replaces the old one. The message board and wiki won't be as tightly linked as in the past.

Re: New VAM pages at V2.0
What you're seeing is a result of my testing the automated translation of pages from the old format to the new one. I need to look for other issues in the process and debug these. When I'm satisfied that I've got just about everything, then I'll announce the lockdown of the old pages so that I can c...

Re: Testing subscription service
I believe you don't get notifications of your own posts. You also have to visit a thread after receiving the notification before receiving another notification. The notifications come from my e-mail address. I will probably change this fairly soon, but as I'm travelling at the moment, it will be a w...

Re: Ebuyer Beware!
I am still not receiving email notifications that new posts are being made to the eBuyer Beware thread. I have tried everything that I can do, including changing my profile email address. I am trying to elevate this issue to someone with access to the code. Either my profile account is corrupted or...

Re: 1892 die crack or break?
Pointing out specific things that flag a coin as counterfeit is a sticky situation. On one hand, you're helping people not get burned again. On the other hand, you're putting information out there that the counterfeiters can use to refine their skills. The best defense against these is to buy from a...

Re: 1892 die crack or break?
Pretty much looks like a cracked planchet or other planchet defect, although it could be a die break, since it doesn't go into the rim. Either way, it doesn't matter, since the coin is a fake.

Re: 1892 die crack or break?
A picture is critical here, but I'm thinking you either have a split planchet or a nasty knife cut.
