Thanks for the advice, folks!

Discovery coin conundrum
Hi gang, So I saw the 1883P VAM 1A discovery coin on eBay. It was only an AU53 in an old ANACS holder, but I thought since I'm toward the end of the 1883P die study it would be a fun souvenir, so I bought it. Odd thing is, it isn't a VAM 1A. It matches what is now the VAM 39A. I had originally sent ...

Re: 1983 P
Odd - there were photos posted, but now I don't see them...
Anyway, I agree with the VAM 21 assessment. That notch between the 1 and 8 is sort of distinctive, especially combined with the break from the neck to the star like that. It's also Reverse 1, with the nice die breaks that you note.

Back from LVA - two kills, one reinstated
Hi gang, Just got back a package from LVA, and I’m so very pleased with the results! It had been a very long time (over a year) since I’d written to him as, well, I didn’t have much to show him. But some poking at the 1885 O series as well as an 1883 P issue that arose from the most recent supplemen...

Amazing coin, amazing pedigree!
That's one fascinating thing about this hobby -- odd stuff, from basements, vaults, and private collections, just show up!

Re: Seriously
Locating an unopened mint bag might be a challenge! But hey, that small hoard of 16 bags just came on the market... https://www.coinworld.com/news/us-coins/2018/06/silver-dollar-hoard-from-1960s-government-sale.html The value would depend highly on the date and mintmark, of course. Mid-American has ...
