There are 8 die stages documented for that one, and they're grouped into the 3 official VAM stages here.

Looks like VAM 10. The clash isn't strong enough to be listed unless I can get a clear photo of lettering being transferred from one side to the other.

If there's nothing listable that's clear enough to make a photo from which other coins can be attributed, I'd call it VAM 1.

May I post these pics to the V13 page? Based on what I see, these are PCGS CoinFacts images. They're rather territorial about their images showing up in online references. Whatever you get, don't get the ones that hold them on an angle in close rows so that you can only see the tag and not the coin through the case. Totally annoying from the standpoint of a potential buyer and in my opinion a bad deal at any price.

Been that was forever, I think. No idea why. I don't include them in my database. ICG has long ones, too. Best I can tell, it's 6 digits for the submission number, 2 for the line item on the submission form, and two more for the item number on that line for when there are multiple coins of the same ...

There are 150 denticles on each side. On wide reed coins, the reeding will track almost exactly with the denticles. On normal coins, they're obviously off.

It's only VAM 6B if the clashed 'n' can be seen, otherwise it's considered just a LDS VAM 6, which is the most common 1886 die pair.

That letter refers to quarters. I'll bet the BCCS would be interested in that one.

VAM 14A, maybe. The heyday of New Orleans clashed reverse dies was 1883-91, ending with them being spanked by the special assay for producing what we now call 1891-O VAM 1A.

Getting unburied from post-ANA show activites, I figured I'd put out a reminder that I always have a bulk submission open. Quite a few coins to go before it's full. My fee is $6 plus shipping, PCGS's will depend on the grade they assign to the coins, which means I won't know total costs until grades...

It does. The potential VAM 1N4 I'm looking at is later die stage with the top edge of the "horn" gone, also XF.

John is correct, green label has faded to yellow. For some reason it happens on slabs. Good place for reference on PCGS slabs through the years is on their website. Below is the link. Jim

Does anyone have a VAM 1N3, with the crack above the T into the rim, in low grade (VGish) for the purpose of showing how the break on the D looks when well worn? If I'm going to list a VAM 1N4, I want to be sure that it can still be differentiated from VAM 1N3 in lower grades where the rim is still ...

Could be an older green one that just faded to yellow. I've seen this before.
