Striations in planchet basically answered, but some additional reading here: https://forums.collectors.com/discussion/1004975/planchet-adjustment-marks-on-a-morgan As far ast the recent pics and discussion… I have seen some call those feed finger gouges. Planchet was “scratched” by the feed fingers...

Re: Striation lines, are these PMD?
Thank you Bob. That's a great 1884 CC VAM-2. I notice it has some striation lines on the Reverse also. You got it for a fair price and most importantly, you like it. I believe it will be a nice addition to your collection. The coin I have is an 1879-S. I have attributed it as a VAM-12. On the Rev. a...

Re: 1924 VAM 1BB
I have a raw 1924 that I believe is a VAM 1BB, I attributed it as such based upon the clash marks above the Eagle left shoulder at the second ray, at the right shoulder, along the ray above the A, and to the right of the leaves. I will try to get some photos up later. The image of the E is incuse a...

Re: Striation lines, are these PMD?
Does it weight a hair more, or less than spec? I'll Guess its not bad IMO , in answer to your question . But it wont get a new VAM number .What say you @vampicker , same as JB ????. Afraid this is going to take more study than just a simple google search will accommodate , to have a better self und...

You would have to be crazy to mess with the Johns and LVA!
Your combined knowledge demands respect.
I will definitely start a new thread if it gets out of hand.
I appreciate the way this ship is run.
(I keep looking for a leak but can't find one that you haven't already pointed out.)

Re: 1880-S Radial Die Break - New VAM?
I remember a lengthy thread with Bert, on the old site regarding 1921 D 1T Or speficslly, when does a 1T actually become a 1 T1. The answer was visible field displacement….just dayin’ Also an 1882 is ONLY a 31A with visible partial letter transfer And a PL REVERSE Just because the overse has a clas...

Re: 1880-S Radial Die Break - New VAM?
I think so...
(I am assuming a displaced field is not necessary in this.)
Could that 4th left star be considered as tripled?

@CascadeChris will be doing attributions there. It'll be a soft launch, accepting coins from the big investors first while they ramp up. First 10 coins graded will be winners of an open essay contest . Thanks for sharing... I am hoping to learn more about the open essay contest. Is there a link for...

@alefzero
I just couldn't let this slide beneath without a request for a few more photographs from Dennis..
Is this a die scratch? I did have a question also:
What are the differences between MM and any other device once it is on the working die?

Re: what's with this S? (1921-P)
this just reminds me of @Geseas anomaly on his 78 . it looks like it extends up on to the MM where it meets it on the lower right .. this is why i want to get Ziess to build a coin scope version, with big optics and no stacking required... Picture borrowed From Dennis ,, it's pariodilla , its a tre...
