I'd concentrate on the zero and disregard the other stuff until you've narrowed it down

Re: a different Hotlips!

Strike doubling looks different when it happens on a screw press. There are some insanely wild examples of this in the Capped Bust half series. But this one is pretty cool too and oddly localized.

Thinking about this more and another alternative is to send it to @messydesk for photos and to note it is a possible new marriage. It might help build up the information we have.

Re: 1921-S Morgan Vam-1S, Another Reverse?

Without examples to make a comparison, this is kinda stalled for now. DHalladay might be able to help if he's got a raw example, but that might be a longshot. There's only one listed in the SSDC registry and the owner is an infrequent visitor here. It's probably a new die combination, but I'm not go...

Re: OT: A long journey ends.

That's a great set, congrats on completing it. I was wondering about the heraldry of the palm with a turtle on it, so I went looking. As far as I can tell, as heraldic symbols, the turtle represents invulnerability and the palm tree is symbolic of righteousness and truth. I'd guess taken together, t...

Both of the questions you raised are possible and plausible. Before suggesting you send it in for further study, I'd like to see comments from a few of the people that specialize in this date.

Re: 1921 VAM-1AI

One of the obverse working hubs had a quad spread. You can also see it in the front of the upper hair. This feature got listed several times before we picked up on the fact that it repeated on multiple working dies with a virtually identical spread. Welcome to the 'wonderful' world of 20th century v...

Re: 1882-CC VAM 2B stage 3 designation question

That's a 2C1. Note the lump on the lip. That stage designation is meaningless

What's funny is all the lower grade pieces look right. And no, they don't differentiate between 2B1 and 2B2

Maybe focus just on the doubled 1 and run thru the listings again. Try starting at the bottom of the list and work up. It's in there.

Broken D of DOLLAR and the line thru R is diagnostic. This is VAM 194, the former 195A. All examples have the disconnected olive leaves
