Re: 1897 O VAM-6b Die Break lower reverse
Yeah, don't be too upset, a really-for-real v6a is not an easy find and about 3/4 of the claimed "6a's" don't actually qualify as such. This is the real deal for sure.

Re: SSDC Registry Status
Any update on this? Am I the only one that's been trying and failing to get in for the last couple days? Try the link above and here ( registry.coxe.net ). The update is that the Registry will continue to run rehosted on this very old server. The only things missing presently are the image uploads ...

WOW! You suck!
...But... I'd say this is a v6a. Why would I say this? Is it my "many decades of experience"? Or my naturally superior knowledge?
No, it's because this looks like a twin to mine and JR said something to the effect of "Getting close, but not yet...".

1886-O VAM-11 2+1 clash
Would one of these in an AU58 holder have any premium or added interest?

Re: OLD R & I Ratings Discontinued
Listen, I don't mean to sound harsh here, but if the Grey Sheet is gonna use the SSDC guide we're all gonna look like fools. When the priceguide came out it was out of whack with the market and it hasn't been updated... For a simple example, I can get an MS63 1878 7/8 strong for $550 OR, according t...

Does it go from the field into the wing unchanged?
Can you zoom out a bit on that close-up?

Re: 1881o vam 50a/33a not
Really racking (wracking?) my memory here, but does your coin have the rim "cudlings"? If memory serves, they are on the obverse and I've never seen a 50a without them...
As far as clash strength goes, the 33b is a completely different animal than 50a...

Re: No one posts picks anymore... HERE'S A COUPLE!!
Recent addition to my Morgans, not exactly a pick, it was listed by the VAM (possibly by a regular from VAMWorld) but I liked it for the wear pattern. Seems to suggest possibly a tilted field not in the 1889o VAM 13a listing. jae_1889o_13a.break.jpg Well, I mean, it’s right there in black and… not ...

Re: 1901 O BOLD letter doubling on V 1A / 20
... Both t transfers cannot have happened during a single clash event. It doesn’t matter how rare a single t may or may not be. Correct, but two clashes can happen without a coin being struck between them. In that scenario, wouldn’t that mean that there is no MDS? EDS would be the two t transfer. L...

You come up with some amazing history Roger!
Can't wait until you uncover the "We had to let one of our inspectors go today after realizing they were not performing their duties" letter from New Orleans dated sometime in 1888!!

Re: 1901 O BOLD letter doubling on V 1A / 20
Wow, so much craziness in those listings. First off, I'm sure I, along with many others over time, have questioned why the ear gouge wasn't worthy of a non-"v1" listing, yet here it is in v20, listed since 1979, apparently. Secondly, there is a note on the 1a page that says this can't be listed as v...

Re: OLD R & I Ratings Discontinued
It's unfortunate that the I&R ratings became so relied upon (even if it should have been completely expected...), because I can't not chuckle every time I see an eBay listing with "OMG, R4!!!!" . It should be simple to place a desirability rating on VAMs, but there are far too many variables involve...
