It does look raised, but i think someone will have to see it in hand to confirm it.
You might be right, have you seen any pups that look anything like it?

Is this a Gouge, scratch or something else?

Picked this beautiful PL 1880 large S with this wicked scratch I think in wing gap. You can see it easily on full coin but its giant and it does not seem to show in any listings. While Im still digging in the listing looking I was wondering if anyone with more knowledge can explain this mark. Is thi...

A quick, unscientific survey of submissions to me over the past year shows the Southeast being represented most often.
That makes sense, Im from NYC and split time in the south east and it seems like everyone down there is from up here lol

Help with date placement

I am studyiong date placements and could use some help from a more knowlegeable member. While studying up about date placement, I ran into two 1900 P's that looked like far dates. Weird that no far dates are noted so, I began thinking maybe Im wrong and went back for more but the dates do look far c...

Re: are eBay buyers clueless?

Are ebay buyers clueless? Yes. And so is 98% of the rest of the population. I'll spare you my theories on how this came about. But notice the "food" in the carts of grossly overweight people at the grocery store. Look at the big homes a young couple will purchase just to keep up appearances. Notice...

Re: NGCX

IMHO They use this grading scale for comics (cards too) and I think it works good, although just as subjective. I think in this case a coin with heavy bag marks but is actually uncirculated graded an AU (because of marks) would fair better (9.0) BUT to change a grade scale after millions of coins ar...

Re: 1901 O BOLD letter doubling on V 1A / 20

Yes, that great article by JT Stanton posted at top was a great help. It is my first strike doubling I encountered. I will be sending this coin for grading soon so I look forward to seeing where this coin actually falls in the new listing. So far Im at the v1A MDS stage (I think)so we will see if it...

I'm attempting to post items of interest to Morgan and Peace dollar collectors. These are more about how and why, rather than varieties.

Re: 1901 O BOLD letter doubling on V 1A / 20

Excellent point, certainly caused me some confusion, i was struggling trying to understand it but you said it perfectly. So im going to classify my morgan as a 1A MDS with a strike double. At least until JB lets us know
