Re: 1878 VAM 1 EDS

Added the Top Pop. For more details, I would just look at individual VAM census pages. I did consider linking them from this report, but it is already pretty busy and takes time to load, especially on high population dates. I did identify and correct registration errors already from this. Some coins...

Ive seen a handful of 58 PL's but don't recall any under that off the top of my head . heck i might even have a raw one that would do it if that were a thing still
I think I have seen a 45PL. I had a 50DM.

Re: 1878 VAM 1 EDS

Fascinating...... Feeling like that movie money ball over here .... kinda curious what TPG gives a PL 50 though When I did prooflikes, I had several AU PL/DM Morgans for quite rare dates. They were NGC. PCGS only graded a couple and has a policy now against it. That 1878-CC VAM-24 AU50PL is ANACS (...

Re: 1878 VAM 1 EDS

I set it up earlier in the day. Just use the Full Date Census at the bottom of the Census page. Morgans and Peace are there. I will add others soon. But 90%+ only want Morgan and Peace anyway. 78-CC-dcs1a.jpg And surprisingly, the median grade of AG2 for VAM-11 is totally legit. Not many circs regis...

Re: 1878 VAM 1 EDS

Actually, we already have a complete date census on the Registry, at the bottom of the census page. Just need to add a little bit to the output and then maybe also include those non-VAM series. Here is the output, again for 1878-CC, as it presently stands. 78-CC-dcs1.jpg I think I will drop the zero...

Re: 1878 VAM 1 EDS

A suggestion for @alefzero to add to the registry would be to have a page that showed every VAM for a chosen date, and for each VAM the total number registered, high grade, low grade, and median grade. It would be biased towards the more popular and rarer VAMs but should provide good insight into r...

Re: 1st strike question

You got the right answer already. But I will say that the First Strike designation is of dubious value for resale. Just cannot compete with the big wholesalers that get preferentially lower pricing (and provision for First Day of Issue). I used to get the FS and gold shield, but the margins are too ...

June Long Beach Roll Call

While I swore I was not going to, I will be set up again there. Booth 538 (select Rarities, a double corner). Usually, fogie helps out but he's gone fishing. Jeff Oxman will be at the show and Mark Witkower might show up one day or two. The Trade Challenge 50 book has had its first printing, as run ...

Long Beach Inventory pre-Offered plus new book

In addition to the inventory below, I have the first printing of the Trade Dollar Challenge 50 book in hand. I am taking most of them to the Long Beach show, but can sell a few here as well. $50 is the show price. $55 shipped. If the transaction is taxable, I was going to go another $5, but I can ab...

I'd redo the lyrics of Steppenwolf's The Pusher to be The Picker. Did that in my mind years ago.

Re: 1886 O Rotated Reverse

There is a very incomplete list of significantly rotated dies somewhere in the beginning of the big VAM book. It is a starting point of course. I did an article on how to precisely measure the relative die rotation for Morgan dollars years ago. The follow-up article was supposed to be on extending t...

Just wanted to make sure you know that they made Morgans in a whole bunch of different years Dennis…😉😂
Nice group!
Sure. But those years are not ugly low-relief that I swear will go AU from MS if you so much as breathe in its direction.

Re: Past members

I try to keep up with Logan. Fogie and I were just talking a week or so ago about dropping by his place sometime. Had the time to call him the other day, but had almost no voice then (a virus that's going around). I need to call him and Jeff (as I do not plan to go to Long Beach next month also) jus...

That 11A is one of only a few VAMs I actively look for. Hope they made more than one. It is remarkably tough.

Re: CACG Launch

Will be interesting to see if they will even grade problem coins. The CAC elitism might not take it there. As some of you know, I have been doing early (flowing hair and bust) dollar varieties for the past few years. A HUGE deficiency at PCGS and NGC, even though they do now slab rather than do thei...

Didn't know there was still a VAM-e going out. I have not received one in years and do not recall seeing any uploaded to the Registry server recently.

I did report it to NGC immediately as I said. I also sent them the seller's pics and will put them here for future reference.

Re: new from Denver

It was a great show. Didn't buy coins for myself (except some Daniel Carr candy). Only picked up books on Early Halves. I have avoided them entirely as I know my personality and would end up with a hundred of them within a month. To be disciplined, I am only chasing R-5 (maybe some R-4) Overtons and...
