Just curious if there are any known Morgan dies from any mintmark 1904 earlier that survived? 1921 I guess could also count Or were they all destroyed?

Sometime ago, I picked up this nice silver dollar book, and it was signed by him, and has come to be useful at times. It is undated, but was published about 1982-1983.

If I were to guess, I'll guess 1888-O scarface EDS. Of course, it could be something quite different.

My main question on the few lustrous 04-P vams is if they were struck earlier in the year? I know that later that year, the quality (the luster especially) took a nosedive on the later vams if I understand right? I approximately grade it as an AU-58, unless it is weakly struck.

Yeah, me knows that vams are only for the morgans and peace dollars, I was just wondering futureistically and humorously.

Is it possible to assign vam numbers to all the Ike dollars of all different compositions?

Yep, checked out the diagnostics of the 202A, and it checks out to be that one. It may have been that subtle C1 to C2 difference throwing me off.

For me personally, id still pick it up due to its collectability, and it might even qualify as a true lowball grade...

Hmm, it could be an earlier 200s vam, but that would push the reverse to a C1 reverse, but it doesn't look like one for the diagnostic pup at the eagles feather area. Unless there is some strange crossovers of some C2 reverses married to some of the earlier vams?

Now this one may or not be a head scratcher. I just picked up this one for more vam experiencing, not to mention it is a first year, so I am wondering if it is an eds of one of the vam 210s? Or is this another vam altogether? It most likely is not vam-215, so it begs the question, where are vams 211...

It would be funny if the mint made deliberate die differences to make them vammable. Clashed dies, repunched date and mintmarks, polishing the die until hilariousness ensues, etc.

Yeah thanks guys, I am learning much here. I also have the 1888-O hot lips in a G-6 condition, and a near miss 1889-P vam-19B1 (I know the 19B2 is the wow vam). I have a few of the other top listed ones.

Thanks Vam-mysterio, actually, I didn't know fogie (Brent) was an expert till just now. Here I was thinking that most if not all of the top and major vams on these big lists were not very common to outright rare, that seldom were they common. That way we general collectors have a good understanding ...

I must not have read that on the 17 page, even though it's a wow vam. It would be nice to see where the general consensus lies on how rare or common the particular special vams, like the wow vams, the top 100, hot 50, hit list 40, Kimpton 12, etc.

On the 1882-O vam-17 pages 3, it mentions the vam-17A as possibly being quite rare, so I wonder if the 17B (wow vam) is just as rare? I happened to cherrypick a couple of years ago just this very vam (definitely confirmed as a vam-17B) in a lustrous MS-63 or roughly. (Might be AU in grade perhaps) H...
