Looks like I will find out on Monday what LVA has to say. Hope he has plenty to do in retirement and keeps in touch with the VAM folks.

Re: New VAM-e Sent - Michael Fey Buys LVA Assets
Wow! I take this to mean we should no longer send coins to LVA...is this correct? Correct. Don't send him anything. If he still has coins headed his way, he'll process them, but treat this as you would the usual end-of-year break. The end of an era for sure. Makes me wonder, what LVA will have to s...

Re: Unusual 1900-S, vam not found yet?
So this appears to be a vam-12 on some points, but this begs the question, are any vam 12s known to be prooflike and EDS? Reason I say is that this is not an exact match to the vam-12; my coin doesn't have the same level of die cracks as the page of vam-12, nor do I observe that fine die polish str...

Re: Unusual 1900-S, vam not found yet?
You have a VAM-12. If the coin is clashed (left serif of the N) then you have an LDS. If the coin is not clashed, then you have a VAM-12 MDS.

Have you checked the Die Crack attribution guides? There are four of them.

Re: Documents requested from NARA - December Update - November 2021 Update
I have to use a camera for the material's you are looking for - they vary in size too much to work well on a scanner.(I have a 12x17 flatbed scanner, but many of the original documents are larger and NARA does not allow scanning of anything larger than the scanner's face plate.) Baby steps, but it ...

Re: Documents requested from NARA - December Update - November 2021 Update
After several months of waiting, I got an appointment for Nov 19 and was able to scan about 400 documents between 9am and 4pm. I have another appointment for the 30th where I hope to complete scanning the same box. This is really slow compared to using a camera. For comparison, using my Nikon camer...

Re: Explaination for handling and reissue of reverse dies
A composite die handling process from multiple comments in letters..... Dies were coated in either light oil or beeswax, then packed in sawdust and shipped in wooden boxes. At the mints they were kept in the Coiner's vault, typically in a locked cabinet. Before use they were cleaned with solvent an...
