I'll be sending them to my buyer for Obscene Profit™. With some of that profit, I'll buy some slabbed coins from him next year that I can inspect for spots.

Hi new to VAM World the 1884 O Vam 56A is a very interesting one. Not really sure how the letters got below the other letters.
Welcome, and that is, indeed, quite a cool VAM. I was fortunate enough to get one for myself. The clashed letters are faint, but unique, for sure.

Re: Questions about SSCD "Buffed Reverses" registry

Don't know if I can/should ask this here, but how are additions to SSDC registries woven in? I.e., I'd like to ask the new discovery coin to be included. The VAM-81 is a new addition/variety ( http://ec2-13-58-222-16.us-east-2.compute.amazonaws.com/wiki/1880-O_VAM-81 ) to the 1880-O family of mistr...

Re: Questions about SSCD "Buffed Reverses" registry

Not a reply; however, the definition seems inconsistent: Buffed Reverse Highly over polished and eroded dies. (See -1883-O VAM-1C1) Polishing and erosion are different things. "Buffed" implies polishing or use of abrasive, and has nothing to do with erosion and displacement of die steel. The on-lin...

Re: Do you think you have a Doubled Die?

The machine doubling on the obverse of the Peace dollar gets people all the time, it's that common. The mark on the reverse is a common clash from the top of Liberty's head.

Re: 1964-P Kennedy DDO FS-102: Meaning of "FS"

Check against the 1964 50c DDOs on VarietyVista, first. Many are proofs, but FS-102, as well as others, are shown there in better detail. PCGS and NGC will label coins that have FS numbers. ANACS and I will additionally do the rest of the DDOs shown here.

Re: OT - Finished a Short but Challenging Set

The LaFayette Dollar die variety set is a fun one. There are only 5 varieties .... As for the rarities, I will have a variety guide ready by Long Beach but can roughly review them. After inspecting thousands of these, the relative percentage are pretty well known. Do you have a guide ready? No. It ...

Re: Newbie Question - May not be VAM Related

Nasty bag mark on the mint mark. There are some 84-O VAMs with filled mint marks. VAM 5 is the first that comes to mind. Far date, filled mint mark, not much of anything else to look at.
