Re: Stereo Microscope?

Bausch & Lomb StereoZoom 4 with 10x eyepieces, purchased used on eBay. Fluorescent ring light with about 1/3 of it covered with black tape to give better shadows. It gives me a 7-30x zoom, which is sufficient. Photos are taken with a point and shoot camera through the eyepiece. I've used this for te...

Re: 1921P potential duplicate listings

I had a 1Q/1AA on my desk just last night, and I agree that they're the same. I'll look at the others, as well, but I assume that if you and Dennis agree on this, then I will, too.

Re: Meet your new Official Attributors

On a slightly different track, will there be any review of seemly "dead" listings where a single coin might have been attributed way back? Do you plan any review of VAM designations and some type general cleanup of the listings? Absolutely. There are a few ways to approach this, and we'll decide ho...

Re: 1921 Peace Pitted Die or Environmental Damage?

Pretty much just looks like a combination of banged up high points and planchet issues that weren't struck out. You wouldn't see a pitted die in weakly struck areas, because the die didn't make a sufficient impression for any pits to show.

Re: Meet your new Official Attributors

Somehow I get the feeling that the threshold for new listings may be higher, meaning not so liberal. :?: But I have been wrong before. You won't be wrong here. There will be a certain amount of "burden of proof" on the submitter that a new listing is necessary. This especially comes into play where...

Re: New SSDC Member. Cant access registry

It looks like you've been added to the registry website. You need to create an account there under the "sign up" section before you can sign in. The login account isn't shared between VAMWorld and the registry. Send me a PM if you have additional issues.

I have no doubt that the transition will go smoothly.
The process is in very competent hands.
I hope that Leroy views this episode as one more accomplishment made possible only through his efforts and coordination.
Leroy is happy with the way things are going.

I think it's a combination of damage and a small lamination.

Re: Meet your new Official Attributors

I am so heartened to hear that it's you three taking on this mantle and sharing this load, as you're all clearly so knowledgeable and passionate about die varieties. Congratulations! Will there be any change in the format of new designations to signify that they are post-LVA? Not my intention. It n...

Re: Meet your new Official Attributors

Sounds interesting and fun at the same time. Hopefully all the logistics can be ironed out and presented at the VAM Thing. A moderated Q&A session at the VAM Thing might be something to consider for the agenda. Not sure if it is possible, but a presentation from Michael Fey about the acquisition mi...

All food for thought. As I said, lots of logistics to work out. I imagine we'll CC you and Brent to update the registry for changes.

Meet your new Official Attributors

I left this out of the previous announcement, because it hadn't been totally figured out yet. Going forward, Morgan dollars will be attributed by me and John Roberts, and Peace dollars will be handled by David Close. The exact logistics of this, including guidelines for submissions, will be worked o...

2022 Calendars Available!

My 2022 coin calendar is ready for shipping. Printing and postage costs went way up this year, unfortunately, so the price is now $20 (includes shipping in the US), which gets you a wall calendar with a different coin photo that I've taken for each month. The calendar is printed on heavy card stock ...

I have a few coins ready to send to LVA. Now what? And the best of days to Leroy. I will miss him, he is the best.
Treat this like the annual end-of-year moratorium on sending him stuff while the logistics are worked out for this process going forward.

Re: 1880-P VAM-1E/VAM-25 Digit in denticles?

First step would be to remove the dirt from between the denticles. I've never noticed the possibility of a MPD on those I've seen.

Re: New VAM-e Sent - Michael Fey Buys LVA Assets

 WOW - Will be real interesting to see what effects this will have for SSDC /vamworld in coming future We knew something would come out as we all get older but one single person, not SSDC or etc? I think VW has been struggling to hold members and i hope this does not deter further. Like to...
