Re: Again, I find I need some help w/1879-S

looking forward to see where this is going ! :) I'll probably list it as new. Waiting to hear from other 79-S specialists. The bit pointed to in the R above is just a hit on the coin. are the die(s) previously unknown or just a new die state/features? on a separate subject, kinda. if a die is used ...

I got a quick reply to my email. He said that the book is rare and out of print. I do not have the coin in hand. The angle of the lighting in the photo may have gotten me. I do suffer from dyslexia occasionally.

numismatically, does that mean you see things raised that are lowered and visa versa? should make coins quite interested!

Re: Coin Photo Viewer Windows 11

All this Gobblygook is why i have no idea how to do pictures and to frustrating for me to even start learning. Unfortunately im a closed book, and it really sucks as good pics would allow me to sell tons of my great morgans myself. Did do Fleabay but results poor due to terrible pics. Guess i best ...

Re: OT; CC gold book

if you don't get an exact answer of what you are looking for, Doug Winters should have something very in-depth for any gold series. also, if you don't get a great answer here, ask on ngc or pcgs forum. you'd surely get some wonderful and effective responses. i saw some books recently that winters co...

Re: 1885-S VAM-6 Denticle Impressions?

Thanks to all for the replies. I appreciate putting this to bed so quickly. To JB's point, apparently multiple appearances of the same coin is what got me. Must be occluded gas bubbles in the planchet. But regardless, your replies kept me from an even wilder goose chase. do you have that coin in-ha...

Re: 1885-S VAM-6 Denticle Impressions?

fwiw i checked several 85-s v6 auction appearances in unc with nothing. it would make sense the coin in the OP is just contact considering how much contact that are of that coin has. nothing wrong with keeping your eyes peeled for another example but unlikely and to look at the coin in-hand would wr...

Re: Interesting Seated Obstruction Error

for my part, i'm not saying it is real or fake but fwiw, there are quite a few error coins out there known for struck through whatever with the whatever piece residing with the main part. pretty sure i've seen dozens at least AND i've seen at least a few smaller denoms struck through larger denoms a...

Like I said, can't put my finger on it. But just because I'm suspicious doesn't mean it's bad. I'm supposed to react to the extraordinary with skepticism.
whaddya think. wb-2. clash lines at liberties drapery. only a few mm are tucked up that far, at that angle.

Re: 1924 P collar clash/cud questions

i have seen these on a few different type coins, recently including an 09 vdb with the vdb 95% gone with lines like these all over that area. i've always presumed they were a result of some minting process.

Re: AU58 Paper Test

a great tip!

one cannot have enough skills in their arsenal to weed out 58s when looking for uncs and stuff like this can help us manage our expectations when submitting. i'm sure a few will slide through but en-masse, the guy that has submitted oodles has shared a pearl and i am quite grateful. :)

Re: Strange question on the 1900-O/CC vams

if you go to each vam page, there are names for each obverse and reverse die.

you can scrutinize and comments/links from the o/cc pages as if there is going to be some info, those are good places to start.

do you have any vam books? SURELY there is commentary somewhere.
