Re: Darkside-have you seen this gouge?

Thanks gents. I see the clash is in an "ignore" area although I can't wrap my mind around why a clash in one area is a good VAM yet another can be ignored. One step at a time I guess.... think of it like this. primary pups (the diagnostics a vam is listed for) and secondary pups (usually not listab...

sniping programs can be used as a backup. kinda too late for this coin but perhaps the next?

for REALLY important coins, 2 or even 3 sniping programs ?

Re: Die Gouge on 21-S

How would a gouge continue unabated through peaks and valleys? fwiw, there are TONS of vams with scratches/gouges/die polishing that goes across the field and devices, even some more than once and probably from more than one type of "tool." they can be seen all over numismatics, especially 19th cen...

Re: What is the correct term?

it may be obvious but i've seen this on non silver dollar coins for america coinage. i pulled a quarter aside recently to research this effect, so thanks for clearing it up so quickly!

as a side-note, is there much "crumbling" around the legend/devices? usually that gets a nice separate listing.

Re: Another over graded ANACS coin.

neat holder with a po01. good thing people didn't see that and associate a premium as there are probably a million legit po01 out there if not more with no dates.

i wonder how much that would/did brig considering the plastic mania we've seen past 24 months?

Re: ANACS grades in

nice sub. what have you found to be different/same harder/easier from holding back on grades to keep the hunt alive? Not sure I understand what you mean about the "holding back on grades" part. The hard part of what I'm doing is the incredible lack of scribbles photos. I don't don't mean decent pho...

Re: OT - Feed Finger Gouges Or ?

I'd think there's a limit to comparisons with any of the pre 1836 coinage as it is a largely different process. But I see your thought process here - the present example does have an effect that resembles the late stages of many of those early halves how about an extreme case of trail dies? sitting...

Cool, I'll look forward to seeing it in hand. Might come back with something generic like 'die gouges' but I'll try to dig a little
.
maybe compare some vlds CBH. if it is a similar effect, quite surprising to not see it more on the WLH.

everyone checking their slabs for a solid seal?

lot of reports over months now of slabs coming back unsealed which means you can access your coin(s).

need to contact CS to have them shipped back.
