OT: 1857 Mexico Republic 8 reales
A typical for 8 Reales Mexico Republic, the dies look messed-up to begin with. This one however is beyond that imo. Obverse rim to rim die crack with retained cud at the top portion. 1857Chihuahua-obv-crack.jpg Reverse rotated about 40 degree CW. 1857Chihuahua-obv-crack.jpg What I'm wondering is rot...

Re: 1889-O Vam 13b "WOW"
Nice!
I wonder what could caused the die to crumbled like that? Maybe something to do with the metal impurity on the die? The effect is the same as 1889-P VAM-7A, which makes me wonder maybe Philly mint shipped out the die that came from the same bad batch to O mint.

This reminds me of 1881-P VAM-17. Very interesting stuff.

1879-S VAM-33 Denticles
There are really 3 stages for VAM-33. EDS; which I found to be PL normally (VAM-33). MDS; clashed and then polished out (VAM-33A). LDS; clashed again and then polished out some more (VAM-33A), but left out remnant of lip clashed. Also exhibit light die cracks on Obv. However, what I find more intere...

A proof morgan should exhibit more 'squared' denticles and mirrored field not frosty like a typical coinage for circulation. And no clashing

Re: Morgan dollar pattern and privately made
Thanks for the input guys! :) J-1747 to J-1749 appears to be using same die pair just different metal. Obv date placement looks similar to VAM-38 proof, but I cannot tell if the die scratch by bear claw or bottom of T of liberty on VAM-38 present or not for those patterns. Rev is not matching VAM-38...
