Trade you a '21-P for it.
Two of 'em in fact.

Re: Evidence for a kill
Don't ask me; I'm only going by what LVA's plate image shows (the A gouge), and what the description mentions (the other 4 gouges).

Re: Anyone ever hear of a cracked die leaving a weeping or tears effect?
I'm going to go with post-Mint damage (gouges or heavy edge nicks), of which there also appears to be at least one of above Liberty's eye.

Re: Evidence for a kill
In addition to the scribbles, here are just 4 other PUPs the two coins share. There are LOTS of polishing lines in the cotton bolls/leaves area and in the right wing. The lines through the C in AMERICA are weaker on VAM 1H, as you would expect for an LDS coin, but they are there. compare scribbles.j...

Evidence for a kill
I haven’t sent the following two coins for in-hand confirmation yet, but J.B. and J.R. have been warned what I’m up to. I spend a lot of time scrolling through at the 1921-P scribbles guide trying to identify unknown coins and even though I’d guess there are maybe 300 different VAMs pictured, my bra...

Re: Anyone ever hear of a cracked die leaving a weeping or tears effect?
Looks like post mint damage (a gouge or graffiti) or a strike-through involving string. A stronger close-up photo would be very helpful.

Re: 1878-S VAM-76 MS 63 PROOF LIKE?
Here is everything I have for VAM 76. It's a healthy premium coin, but as you can see I have no record for a PL in any grade. That would seem to certainly increase its rarity , but does that also mean it has dramatically more demand ? I'm not at all sure of that. Top 100 set PLs have a niche group o...

Re: 1878-S VAM-76 MS 63 PROOF LIKE?
Much more information is needed. – Is it raw or certified? – if certified, then by which TPG? – Is 63PL stated on the holder? – Is VAM 76 stated on the holder? – Is the coin white and lustrous, dark and dull, or somewhere in-between? Each answer can greatly affect a value estimate, and some dramati...

Re: (4) 1921-P D1s to vet
Coin #18 – There are some decent scribbles in the left zone. When it catches the right light, a long and bold diagonal scribble jumps out in the upper middle of the right zone. Move the light source a little and the tall, narrow V at the bottom of the right opening becomes visible. #18 scribbles-0....

Re: (4) 1921-P D1s to vet
Coin #12 & #21 (dupes) – There’s a thick and distinctive scribble/gouge in the top right zone and some smaller ones over in the opposite leg opening. The gouge in the inner right wreath across from ER is pretty bold. The gaggle of parallel lines at the far right side of the neck speak for themselve...

Re: (4) 1921-P D1s to vet
Coin #10 – Not much for scribbles, just some ‘fuzz’ of partials at the top of each zone. The polishing lines on either side of the top leaf tip are nice PUPs, but the dot in the upper right wing is what really stands out. And before you ask… yes, I did poke it with a stick and it really does presen...

(4) 1921-P D1s to vet
Any help with these would be most appreciated before they go to JB & JR as new discovery possibilities. Multiple looks through the scribbles and die crack guides have been fruitless. Each coin’s photos are grouped in separate posts for this thread. (My photo names include either #1, #10, #12, #18 or...

Re: Cannot bid on HA
I got that same notice – but I pretty much understand why; during the auction I went into my tracked lots that were coming up several minutes ahead and added brief notes to most of them, and frequently hit the refresh button to make sure they came up in the Heritage display.

The first date photo is from the coin used to take all the other photos in this thread – except the closeup of 92, which was taken from the most EDS of the 3 examples I have: raw D1 #5 date.jpg raw D1 #20 inside 2.jpg raw D1 #5 cap band.jpg raw D1 #5 cap fold.jpg raw D1 #5 lines in hair.jpg

why isn't this '21-P D1 listed?
I can't find it in the scribbles guide (and there are no cracks to be able to use the die crack break guide). What's worse is I have three of these. There are some nice scribbles, awesome lines inside the ear, multiple lines in multiple places on both sides, and a very unusual something inside the 2...
