Re: Pcgs vams sold

Congrats to both of you. I have had the pleasure of sitting down to a soda and a piece of pie with Larry several times in the past. It was always amazing to see what he brought along to further my VAM/coin collecting education. A big thank you to you Larry! Hope we get the opportunity to visit again...

Re: 1899-o micro o confirmation

I would have said no to the first coin reverse and yes to the second one.... then I noticed they look to be the same coin, or am I just seeing things in my old age?

Re: 1922 Peace die gouge olive branch

Likely I am in error, but I had also noted the smaller mark along side the ray, just a bit above the A in dollar as a familiar clash mark as well. Guess I am mistaken a couple times on this one. I probably should leave the Peace dollar postings to the Peace dollar folks.

Re: 1922 Peace die gouge olive branch

Welcome to the site. The "gouge " as referenced is actually the result of die clashing. It can be read about near the bottom of the Peace VAM attribution page. http://ec2-13-58-222-16.us-east-2.compu ... e_Clashing

I find it difficult to pass up a cud

Didn't notice when I hit the buy it now that "15B" was hand written on the back of the 1891 o in a PCGS 15 holder. Was not mentioned in the auction listing, Maybe cuds aren't a big thing anymore?

Re: 1878 Vam 84 A Question

For what it's worth, the last 2 small photos of the crack and die chip on the 84a page are from a coin I have. If memory serves me correctly, the E fades some at that late state, but was still visible on my example.

So if I get on route 6 or 22 and head west to the big red bridge back in 1878? LOL

Count me as stumped, although it looks to me like the lower left part of the letter N of UNUM. Or similar to the doubled RIB of 78p

Re: 1900-O VAM 52?

Looks to me like the correct VAM choice on your part. The additional marks by the 4th star appear to be cut marks that have worn down over time. Post mint damage most likely.

Glad this came out before I finished up a package to mail on Monday. I'll hold my 1891 o work until the dust settles..... Congrats to the 3 of you and good luck, those are big shoes to fill.

Better photo of date on the VAM 20 after a little rose thorn work and acetone soak. I was sure from date position that's what i would find under all the crud.
